I could have got a discount at the time but not been there for about 5 years. It depends what type and how large/heavy the covers are if they will need proper anchor points, hence the concrete. |  | | |

These are good ideas, problem is I suspect with the way the economy is at the minute we just couldn't sell the advertising space.
The shopping bags might be too small an audience for anyone to take a punt on and I suspect we just couldn't sell as many spots on the team sheet as bury.
The folk of bury have probably got more to spend than the folk of Rochdale, or at least an advertiser would see it like that.

A lot of pi$$ taking tvvats, that constantly whine about how our beloved club is run. (That does not include everyone that has posted) Shame on you.
We are a small club, that runs ourselves with honour, without getting in the sh!te, WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON THAT. Yet you expect a top notch/championship player intake/tip-top customer service/ dept. that pampers to your every need.
While im at it, Im sick to fookin death of that idiot taz talking sh!te, and a few others on here need a reality check as well, you should know who you are, if you dont, and this pi$$is you of, it's you!!!

I'm sorry, but that mentality just doesn't work in business, no matter how small it is.
I can understand your frustrations, especially with regards to the quality of player some people expect us to sign, and I agree with that, but there is no excusing slip-shod marketing and communications. Any customer-facing business, no matter how small, needs to get this bang on.
I know we're run within our means, and that's great, but the club, from a business point of view, could still do more to be more, without breaking the bank. |  |

I started the thread for two reasons:
1. To highlight the fact that we already know the answers to most the of questions that are going to be asked anyway.
2. To have a laugh at some of the 'stupid' questions that get asked/have been asked over the years.
I do not think that anyone would disagree with you that the club is run the right way. I am sure that Portsmouth fans would love a board that set and stick to realistic budgets. A financially prudent club is better than no club. Yes everyone has unrealistic transfer targets and would love a 'name signing or two', but deep down they know why we cannot attract the types of players that clubs which have larger crowds and owners with millions to invest into the club.
Even you must agree that there are things that the club can do better? It is not necessarily about giving people more to do, but working smarter. Any business will plan for the future and look to progress. There are many people who really care for the club and have lots of ideas. A few extra thousand pounds of revenue a year can be the difference between keeping your better players, which can then help to attract more supporters and so on.
Some people feel that the club does not engage with supporters enough. Tonight is the Fans' Forum and many people will not be able to attend. Now hopefully someone at the club will make use of the Officially Dale Twitter feed and post updates from the FF. Tomorrow there should be an article on the official site summarising the questions asked and answers given.
Neither of those two things are difficult to do or costly, but yet it is the simple things done correctly and often enough that I think some of the dissenters want?

Giant scale ? What are you talking about ?
I don't care whether you are a one-man business operating a corner shop, or a high street giant on the scale of Tesco.
If you don't treat your customers with some civility and you give them the impression that you couldn't care less whether they patronise your business or not, it won't be long before that customer starts to wonder whether it's worth the effort to conduct business there and whether or not, as a customer, you'd be better off keeping your money in your pocket.
Of course as a football business, 'customers' generally means 'supporters' and they don't instinctively take their support elsewhere, but they can decide whether to attend matches, buy season tickets, buy club merchandise and purchase hospitality packages.
When some of your employees (and their representatives) treat the customer with indifference and with a complete lack of manners, it's time to start taking a long hard look at the image your business projects and the improvements that should be made. | |

In a football club's case customers might expect some of the following:
A match report from every game including team line-ups.

Wouldn't that be penalising season ticket holders if they give discounts to people who only attend 6 matches? The discount should be in recognition for shelling out a season's worth of gate money at once, and attend every or nearly every game, and not for the casual supporters who just go now and again. | | | |
