With the Fans' Forum a few days away it is time to play guess answer to the question.

I will post the first question, someone else post the answer:

1. Why have the pitch covers not been bought and installed yet?

It may well be, but the club will rightly argue that they cannot afford to run coach travel at a loss.

if i add up all my rail tickets plus the other expenses on traveling like taxi fares to get to these grounds i bet they add up to all this season away travel 4x/6x more than. were the loyalty gone to the fans which use to use it regular basis like what we had back in 2007/2008?

how many of the coaches what did run make a profit?

is Away Travel becoming a exclusive fan thing meaning those of a poorer background get shut out?

There is money there but we will not rush into buying a pitch cover that is not right for the club

Iain Johnstone said at the end of the last tour yesterday that they have picked out the covers we will be getting, they will be 80K and are made by a company that does the covers for wimbledon and some of the olympic venues.

The thing holding up getting them in place is the fact that they need to sink concrete secured fixing points round the outside of the pitch and are trying to find a company to do that.

I can imagine some on here being in uproar if coach travel was running at a loss whilst we appear unable financially to bring in the mythical 'wide player' and 'big striker'.

Even people who you would not class as being from a poorer background are priced out of certain away games.

For example Torquay away is too expensive when you have a mortgage and other bills to pay. Even Chesterfield would cost nearly £40 just to get into the ground for my sister and I, which is without fuel costs etc.

I spoke to atleast 40 odd Rochdale Fans over the space of last season who would of went some of the away games but the coach being cancelled last minute ment they wasn't able to get there because of the price of the train and other things etc??

why is this happening at a Professional League Football Club???

Saracens Rugby union team who have an average attendance of around 8,000 have already cancelled their supporters coach to their game against Sale on 8th September. It isn't just Rochdale that cancel coaches that for whatever reason their is not enough demand to make running one viable.

I'm not being funny mate, but if the fact that a few fans can't get to an away game means the club can save even the smallest amount of money to invest into our depleted playing squad, then I and hopefully several others couldn't give a flying **** whether or not your benefits don't stretch far enough for you to be able to get the train to a match.

The amount of money you seem to spend on trains and taxis could be put towards buying a cheap little car, Tazzy.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

On a serious note, with so many frustrated fans on here I hope some of the tougher questions re the commercial side of things will be asked.

Yes, but don't hang around waiting for a worthwhile answer. It will be along the lines of:

"We will have a look at several of the suggestions made and we will decide a way forward in due course"

There you are - no point in going now.

If we dont have a pitch cover, and we get lots of rain or frost, we may have time to rebuild the squad properly, and get a wide player and a target man!!!!

The website may even be working properly by then!!!!

to be honest tazzy sometimes there is need to get personal when people have tried to explain this to help you understand and you completely ignore it.

if these forty dale fans were booking on the coaches they would run. the coaches are cancelled for pragmatic reasons and you cannot seem to accept this when every other dale fan can. this has been explained time and time again but you don't accept it and just go on repeating your original issue despite it already having been explained to you.

i have booked on coaches that have been cancelled in the past. its dissapointing but a fact of supporting a lower league club.

Fans' Forum Bingo on 16:59 - Aug 6 with 1190 viewsSuddenLad

Cancelling away travel is not a new phenomenon. It's been happening for decades. There were some seasons when there was NO away travel unless you organised it yourself.

In those days we simply got together, hired a minibus and went to the match. Two supporters volunteered themselves as drivers so that the others could have a beer or three. We would draw lots and one of the supporters went for free. The cost was shared by all those who travelled. Off we went, to Plymouth, Southend, Exeter, Colchester, Brighton or wherever it was 'not viable' to run a supporters coach.

It's not rocket science. It just requires people to be in contact with each other and arrange what is necessary. Moaning about it won't get you to the match.
