Brexiters should be happy with this, because it means that when parliament ratifies the invoking of Article 50 (which it will), there will be no possibility of legal challenges after the event.

The way it is now the Government wouldn't be able to muster enough votes for the type of deal it wants. If the appeal fails a snap general election looms in which the tories would most likely gain a landslide victory and therefore enough MPs to push through a Brexit without the wringing hands of the left all over it. |
We have five year fixed term parliaments now and there are only very limited ways in which the house can be dissolved early. Chief of these is that an election may be called if voted by two thirds of MPs. That is not going to happen if many MPs think their seats may be at risk. |  |

Sorry but you can't have one exception, it's all or nothing. If Parliament can pass this without a vote from MP's then they can pass any law without it going through parliament and that would quickly become a disaster.
One big positive now is that the Tories have to come up with a good plan for Brexit which convinces MP's to get behind it so if the vote to leave is upheld after going through parliament then that should mean we have a decent plan in place of what to do next |  | | |

It's all just sounding like a bunch of idiots waving their arms around over nothing. We voted to go out. Just. If the EU had made it a bit more attractive to do so then we would have stayed in. They could still offer that during the next two years if they do actually want us to stay in the bit that we are actually in. I think that Parliament needs to be in a position to advise the country and then judge whether there's still a consensus about leaving. It's important for 100% of the population, not just those who wanted to leave or remain. I can't get my head around the fuss about this court verdict. As things stand, we have to leave. The press going bananas is a sign that the constitution is working. There is nothing they or the government can do to overrule the rule of law so they are kicking the toys out of the pram. There is going to be a delay whatever Nigel Teresa or any of them say and the government have a thin majority with a number of committed remainers amongst their ranks.
The judgement looks pretty bullet proof so an appeal will probably be a waste of time but the government has not been behaving rationally for the last few months - partly because of the lack of opposition, partly because the swivel eyed loons thought taking back control meant they could do whatever they wanted- like for example arguing (as they did in this case) that parliament was not sovereign having just fought a campaign to restore sovereignty to parliament. As a result the attorney general got absolutely mushed by Pannick QC.
The government law officer being had on toast is worse internationally than the Mail returning to its fascistic tenancies. The government may struggle to convince others its decisions on say trade agreements are lawful if those government think they may get wiped out in the High Court.

The fascist response (and it is genuinely the sort of thing you'd see in a dictatorship) in todays press is also a warning shot to MPs - "If this is how we react to judges upholding the law, just imagine what we'll do to you if you don't meekly accept our demands".
