Fernandes Craving Attention Again... 09:04 - Apr 8 with 12015 viewsBrianMcCarthy

Tweet at 1am:-

"The decision on my future has been made. 6 games 18 points. Never stop believing rangers fans. Les also a hero. Never stop believing."

Mustn't have been breastfed.

"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."

I'm suggesting the commonly-held view that Hughes is entirely responsible for those signings is not necessarily the truth.

Ego, hubris and an aggressive marketing strategy for AirAsia were equally responsible, if not more so.

I hate Hughes. But it is a myth that he was solely to blame for our downfall during that period. He did well at other clubs before us and has done well at Stoke since.

Dave,

I understand your point, but my issue is this - the day after we get an away draw, and with only six games left to ensure our survival in this league, Fernandes feels obliged to bring the issue of our chairpersonship to the fore again, despite the fact (or perhaps precisely because of the fact) that his tweets have previously led to media stories about our instability.

I had a girlfriend when I was a young fella who felt compelled to create a drama every time our relationship was happy and settled. I hope she grew out of it. And I hope Fernandes does too.

I had a girlfriend like that once too Brian, back in the mid 90's. Just had to create havoc as couldn't handle things going nicely. OK, she had issues that caused this but years later when I spoke to her (it only lasted 8 months) she called it Chaos Theory, she could only handle things and deal with life when it was in a chaotic state. At least she recognised it and did something to sort it out but it meant she has pretty much led a single life as just cannot hold down a relationship, despite really wanting to.

Maybe Fernandes is the same?

I'm actually intigued by his opening comment; "The decision on my future has been made".

Does this mean he was ready to throw the towel in but recent performances have given new heart, even if we go down? Does this mean he (finally) realises that after spunking £150m+ on mercanaries, that's not the way to go?

He did well at clubs before as did Redknapp, but in different circumstances. Hughes did a terrible job at qpr with near unlimited money to spend and an owner who couldn't have backed him anymore. He could have built what he liked at QPR but didn't have the backbone or the ability to say no and was like a kid in a sweet shop. His man management of Green and others was appalling and thats his fault not Fernandes.

He only ever does well at clubs where only a lunatic would struggle. Hodgsons team at Fulham, Sounesses at Blackburn and Pullis at Stoke you'd have to go some to take any of them down. When he had to build something himself he cocked it up big time

looks like he is saying if we get relegated he will leave ...but as chairman until he finds a buyer...then leave altogether...

He'll have a long wait unless he takes a massive loss.

I always see a bit of irony in the volume of tweets / posts some people seem to make about their opinion on TF "craving attention" and the like via tweets!

Does anyone use Twitter/messageboards for anything other than some sort of "attention"?

What's ridiculous about that tweet> He keeps getting asked if he is staying and plenty call on him to quit so he tries to put a stop to it by saying a decision has been made so basically shut up about it.

When he said nothing a few weeks back he was slated on here for not backing anyone and looking for a way out, people on here were going mad that he hadn't made a statement on FFP, now he says something positive and now he's an idiot for speaking again.

Of course the man is accountable and made mistakes, not as if no one has mentioned that, he gets plenty of stick but he's written off 60 million quid of money the club owes him and looks like he is at least trying to put in place things the fans are asking him to do.

It wasn't £60m of just his money, he doesn't own the club. I think that he is finally realising that he will have to stand down and stay in the background, he will have difficulty in selling his shares unless he virtually gives them away.

It's having to stay in the background that will kill him.

He is a massive attention seeker.

He's obviously fishing for attention and I bet all the "We love you Tony" & "We want you to stay" tweets followed as we won.

Embarrassing IMO

More telling Tweet is this one, from a bit later:

"Need to get that London flight going so I can get rangers down to kl and Jakarta and Surabaya again. Airasia x to USA and Europe."

Oh great, so we're a marketing tool again.

We're all attention seekers otherwise we wouldn't be on a public messageboard with our witty comments.

Oy,down in front you kunts, you're blocking everyone's view.

That's better.

But no autographs I'm afraid.

Quite easy really if Tony's tweets offend you unfollow him - its the joy of social media.

Personally I dont mind our chairman communicating by way of twitter
2
Fernandes Craving Attention Again... on 20:00 - Apr 8 with 2322 viewsW5R

Look, he's a minority share holder who is utterly useless on a scale never been seen before in sport. He's clearly going to step down before he is pushed (or probably already has been according to rumours).

Ruben is the main man and hopefully they'll appoint both a CEO and chairman/woman plus someone who can actually get us sponsorship revenue and cash into the club and we can forget about him.

He's the Asian Ryanair and like the cant who owns them hes a cant. Ignore his attention seeking shit , we should dump him and forget about him like his wife did.

His tweets don't offend me as such. I just think we as a club deserve much better than this manipulative divisive drivel.

In what way does he really communicate? It's a constant party political broadcast for the "We love Tony" party.

not as if he's the only businessman to communicate through twitter. Lots of love Amit Bhatia but he's on twitter often talking about QPR. West Ham owners always on and regularly arguing with fans and they are some of the better owners around.

We moaned when Flavio dismissed us, Fernades tries to involve fans and communicate with us and we slaughter him. I do wonder what we want really, I don't think the ideal chairman exists.

This might upset some people but twitter is for kids. Feel sorry for TF but as most know it's a rod for his own back. Either grow up and act like an adult or employ some sensible grown up to filter all the negative crap and planning dreams until something is finalised. Might be my age but have no understanding of why people feel the need to let the world know what you're thinking or doing unless you're stuck in the bog without toilet paper

Dave, I don't expect we are going to agree on this. But when you say Fernandes 'involves the fans', scratch below the surface and ask yourself what does this really amount to. Inviting fans along to take part in the Ice Bucket challenge? Handing out a few free plane tickets? Getting his team to send out fan surveys about a new stadium which is at least a decade away?

And the communication? It is all one-way. Telling the world about his emotions, the abuse he has taken, and more and more excuses about why things have been so abject.

Yes the general level of communication between fans and the club has improved over the last three years. But it could hardly have been much worse than under Briatore / Paladini. And remember how the Official Supporters Club wound up and has not been reinstated.

It's really a very old argument that because the past owners are so bad that Fernandes must be good. As fans delve a little deeper beyond the spin and the myth more and more are seeing the Emperor's New Clothes that the last four seasons have amounted to.

Put what Fernandes has done and achieved under real scrutiny. It doesn't amount to a hill of beans. It does amount to a hill of debt and hot air.
