Improving the atmosphere at Spotland 17:58 - Mar 10 with 23131 viewsRAFC1907

As Hilly says its something that needs to happen, the amount of times at home games when its 0-0 or even when we go 1-0 up our players must be thinking we have the worst support ever.

Away following nobody can complain, great support in numbers and very vocal.

The football club is the only thing in this town that gives Rochdale any positive headlines, so surely we must do all we can to ensure the good times around Spotland remain, its as though its 1995 and were sitting 5th from bottom.

With the results the management and players deliver our support should be constantly heard over the course of 90+ minutes.

Are we still the only club in the football pyramid to stop fans bringing in flags/large banners etc? Creating a positive atmosphere around the place can only be beneficial to everyone who enters the ground on a Saturday and a much more enjoyable experience.

I have mates who would rather watch the likes of City/United on TV as they reckon the atmosphere sounds better than being at a live game at Rochdale.

Bastien Hery hit the nail on the head also.

Interesting that on Tuesday, just before kick-off, when their PA started playing random dance anthems, the Dale fans sang along with their terrace songs (can't remember the names of the choooooons). An atmosphere happened.

Fortunately on Saturday, we'll be back to Sally Cinnamon, This is the One, The Seahorses and nothing else that'll get the fans motivated.

True

It's the sheer monotony that gets you

What about a compromise: indie hour till 2.45 then DANCE ANTHEMS?

(I don't like dance music, by the way, but see it's worth in the circs).

It helps when 1300 fans are all in the same stand.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Definitely.
The irony is that it's entirely within our hands to rejig where fans go and to change the match day experience but we all know neither will ever happen. We're our own worst enemies.

They should do like the old days allow fans to transfer between Sandy, Main & the Pearl least then there a chance of having a combined atmosphere

Probably won't just the obvious solution to the missing atmosphere in the middle of the stadium (Main Stand) plus i don't think they like singers in there unless Dale have been Promoted or reached Wembley

Not true at all. The support in there has an undeserved reputation, plenty support the team vociferously. It's like when people say its full of moaners, I've been in all areas of the ground and there are moaners everywhere. It was far worse in the Pearl St for example.

Yeah, but you were in there when Barrow was the manager so it was acceptable.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I like Sweetmore and his music, I think we're lucky to have him. I just wish it wasn't quite so loud as it affects my ability to hold a conversation with anyone.

Sweetmore needs to mix it up for everyone, not just himself, I like Indie music but sick of listening too it. And This is The One could be the worst song SR have ever done!
