reading this forum and silence from official site, on 20:35 - Mar 9 by Liberty | Read the poll under my posts. If thats what fans think of a legend of a player. He is not the man for the job, if board appoint him, I will support till sacked, many on here slag previous managers off before being sacked. I never boo from the stand, any player or manager. Some fans have short memories. |
He's not a legend. Monk is a very very rich man on the back of our club. And not managerial material in the PL.

WHO'S Shw Mae ? Did he used to start threads, Darr challenge immediately, not get a bite, then Darr starts personsal abuse - poster stands up for themselves, then Darr and only 2 or 3 cronies jump all over it. Not many posters stick round when that happen to them. He is pleasant to many, file under jeckyll and hyde. Sober or pssed. Agree with him or dont, know him or dont.

No it's a fair point we should always explore the null hypothesis Anyone can spit up on the pitch when we are going to hell in a handcart against CP at home, made me feel a bit queasy. Shame they didn't properly brief Bony - poor Leroy the fall guy yet again. I can see it now: Garry what is my motivation? Oh you know just crash about aimlessly - think Everton. Ash did mention in an interview the Triad of senior players that were going to save themselves oops sorry the club. #Machiavellian. Captain sulking game after game no leadership on the pitch then suddenly hap hap happier than happy Gilroy on happy pills in Happy Valley. What chance a mere mortal against such orchestrated perfidiousness. Certainly a plausible plot-line

Nope, you've definitely lost me with that one. I was asking a genuine question - the suggestion was made that Monk's comment about Ash and Wilf being ill had been proven to be a lie but I hadn't read or heard this anywhere else. I still haven't, unless it's hidden somewhere in your post like something out of a Dan Brown novel.

The post you quoted did not from my reading suggest that the comment had been "proven" to be a lie. It questioned if it could be and asked why..... "could there be an untruth and if so, Why" then from my reading went on to explore that hypothesis - "but to say they were in such a bad state they had to come of and then we find out its not true" To explore the possibility of its untruth given some potentially conflicting signals I suppose is fair enough. It is not saying it is proven to be a lie but questioning if it might be. Just as us unquestioningly accepting it as the truth does not mean it is true. Many football managers will spout anything that people might accept to cover up any short comings, especially if new and feel under pressure to achieve (aka Bren when first at Liverpool). Personally I was willing to generally accept it even though Bony did not seem to want to come off and that seemed an otherwise baffling substitution (akin to bringing Leroy on at Everton instead of Bony). However I posted a potential tongue in cheek alternative reality in response to these comments and other comments about a player coup d'etat. This is indeed backed up to some extent by comments from Ash about him, Monk and Leon wanting to save the club. Potentially read 3 disaffected players not happy to toe the line and in a position of power with the ear of a Chairman (whose own critical newspaper articles at key times show he has a poor relationship with the then manager) . Monk has also made it clear that every player will be given a chance. Fair enough and presumably to achieve buy in from the whole team. But this could explain some of his substitutions (although not necessarily those against CP).

Certainly was asking a staff member "who should I take off" at Napoli. Don't think it was the ball boy he was asking as someone suggested to me. May not be unusual to consult with other staff re decisions on substitutions as the match progresses but for it to be clearly seen on TV gave the impression of indecisiveness it also seemed more like asking for instruction than input and seemed a bit panicky. Obviously though it was a very big occasion and he is an inexperienced manager so there was tremendous pressure on him. There also were a few suggestions that the subs at CP home had been pre-agreed (and possibly others). I imagine at this stage in things there is potentially quite a bit of direction or possibly even agreeing more detailed approach. It is quite a risk putting someone so inexperienced in charge and the board would obviously want to protect their interests whilst giving him every opportunity to develop.

Machiavellian in the extreme..... If this was all down to certain disaffected players behaving like spoilt teenagers, then wouldn't that mean that Laudrup didn't have the necessary qualities required to 'man manage' the football team. As a Manager, shouldn't he have been able to deal with that sort of behaviour. I know that there are those who think that we shouldn't have got rid of him, but even by your own admissions he wasn't managing certain players.

You've been watching too much benefit street, Do you honestly think if some poor bugsta on benefits was given the opportunity to earn a real living wage he wouldn't do it, life on the dole is mostly a boring and dull existence. The problem is that the wages are too low, not the benefits to high (in most cases) basic job seekers allowance is really tight to live on. The only people who can afford to take these wages are people who don't have to pay all the other living expenses that as a British citizen we do. Also were are all the jobs

It's hard to disagree Dar!! The issue around Ash, was he sick? Well I personally, along with thousands of others, saw him coughing his guts up shortly before going off. Being fit enough to give an interview when unwell is one thing, but charging around a football pitch is quite another. And if Monk is asking for advice, is that wrong? As well as most of us think he's done, he is still very new and raw. He'll need support here and there.

Question however also relates to Bony too and he did seem surprised to be taken off as many can also witness. The response I gave re Monk asking for advice was similar to yours. Most understandable for an inexperienced and unqualified manager but the question might be is our PL club the place to learn. Think the other issue addressed was how much his strings are being pulled at the back. Which I think also a reasonable question. Additionally the question has been raised of whether it was in Monks best interests to throw him in this sink or swim situation with many expressing concerns about player retention and recruitment. It was certainly a brave move and could work. I think it would have probably been safer and in Monk's best interest to bring him on as assistant first (possibly not to Laudrup though). Of course that would have logistic and cost implications.

Its a game. That's all it is. Its way down in the list of priorities in my life. I agree with you, Dar. Its all some people have in their lives, each to their own and all that, but if all I had to talk about and build my life around was a game of f*cking football then I'd have done myself in years ago
