My biggest concern
at 16:15 4 Nov 2012

.. Is that we couldn't win the game or even score with 30 mins to go after equalising.

In fact we even played quite poorly for the ten mins following the goal.

The game was there to be won against a poor side but we simply werent mentally strong enough to do it.

Plus we still looked like conceding.

If not today then when I ask myself

Cisse up front on his own?
at 22:19 12 May 2012

Given that we'll be sticking everyone behind the ball I don't much see the point of Zamora playing as there'll be no one to join him if he holds it up.

I'd stick 5 in midfield with Taarabt the most eager to get forward. I can only see us scoring with a fast break/ball over the top so it makes no sense to play Zamora in my view.

Thoughts?

Terrific spirit
at 20:27 6 May 2012

One thing I utterly loved about today was a total lack of panic.

Team and fans alike.

We played poorly for 25 mins after half time but really got it together and got right at them for the last 15 or so.

I genuinely hope I am proved wrong about Hughes.

And if we stay up I will have been.

Is Terry a factor in Hodgson's appointment?
at 14:36 30 Apr 2012

I think yes. Big time.

The F.A think Terry is toxic and a desperate for him not to go to the Euros.

Redknapp is very tight with Lampard (and by proxy Terry) and is always espousing Terry's virtues.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if one of Bernstein's first questions to R.H was:

'Where do you see John Terry in the set up?'

I might be entirely wrong but Hodgson appears to be a decent principled man who would baulk at the idea of Terry being involved in the side and I suspect the F.A knew this in advance.

As for Redknapp not being interviewed by the F.A, well if you don't interview him then you don't have to ask him whether he'll be picking Terry and end up with a potential media storm.

I think that's Terry out of the Euros.

Barring Chelsea at home - has anyone been sent off against us this season?
at 11:05 30 Apr 2012

I can't think of any and I've been to all homes plus a couple of aways.

That said my memory is totally addled by QPR stress so feel free to correct me.

Tactics away from home
at 10:51 30 Apr 2012

I think our losses away from home are due in the main to tactical errors and the way the team is set up.

We were winning away from home under N.W (although not at home admiitedly) so I don't think its a mental thing with the players as such.

I'm wondering whether its been ingrained in them to play a cautious, catch them on the break style by Hughes away from home, which whilst fine in certain games might be stifling their ability to play with freedom and create chances in most others.

I think Hughes has belatedly found that what works at home cannot be replicated away and this may well be our undoing. Essentially that shows tactical limitations in my view

That said, we've still got a chance. Just about.

What will T.F and A.B do about Hughes and why?
at 20:22 11 Mar 2012

I did a previous post about how the owners had painted themselves into a corner by stating that premier league survival was the reason for sacking N.W.

The problem with this is that Hughes record is already worse and the chances of being relegated are now greater. So given that what will THEY now be thinking?

I don't consider it worth sacking Hughes but on the principal they themselves created this is what they should be doing.

I suspect they won't sack him now but if (and probably when) it becomes a certainty I think they will sack him as I don't think they can be seen as remotely credible by keeping him on in the champ after sacking Warnock.

It does of course cost money to keep sacking managers but I suspect they will feel it is more important to save face and get a new man in.

Whatever they decide I can imagine their conversations being extremely interesting.

Hughes out?

This is neither my preference nor a challenge to those who wanted Warnock out (which I disagreed with).

But given that Warnock was sacked on his record should or could TF and AB sack Hughes?

Fitz, Buzz, Smith, Helguson
at 18:57 21 Jan 2012

Almost like the championship revisited today in terms of team scorers but who cares!

I've never been big proponent of Buzsacky (since Di Canio) but very happy to be proved wrong today. Super goal and performance.

I'd also like to say that the much maligned Fitz Hall had an excellent game today in my view and looked more assured that Gabbidon on the ball. Albeit against a poor Wigan side.

Re Smith. A brilliant goal and amazing celebrations. Rather reminded me of the joy and relief of Furlong's goal when we beat one nil at home circa 5 years ago.

Terrific stuff today. One to remember.

80's record chant suggestion

After SWP's Depeche Mode song I had a suggestion for another to the tune of Baby Give it Up, namely:

Just a thought

Player of the year - who did you vote for?

Me: Derry

But I would have been happy to give it to Faurlin, Adel or Kenny as well.

I love skillful players but Derry's effort and commitment define the team.

Pace at the back?
at 17:32 23 Jan 2011

A good deserved victory and another 3 points in a terrific season. Even if we only finish in the play offs now its been great to watch.

My only slight concern is that we look a bit short of pace at the back and whilst I rate both Gorkss and Connolly (unlike the bloke behind who spends the WHOLE GAME shouting abuse at the former) I would like to see another option there.

Not sure if Danny Shittu has still got that pace and big bully aura but if so I think he would be great in certain matches.

Great stuff QPR, Warnock and co and its a shame a few idiots wanted to concentrate on singing about King rather than positively supporting the QPR players and the management team.

This season has been excellent.
