Whilst I understand people's doubts as to the feasibility of a Plaid government and those of you who find Trampies arguments ludicrous, what I don't get is- what do you think is the alternative? Carry on the way we are? Can you honestly say Labour has ever done anything for Swansea? Do you want them blowing more of your hard earned tax money in the city that gets everything? It makes me physically sick, they're like the spoiled brat that doesn't need to ask, just keeps having handouts while we're left to beg for the crumbs off their table - and then told to be grateful. Revolting government.

What Trampies arguments are ludicrous ?

Trampie only thinks Wales would be best served by Plaid and you apparently think that also ?, so why are Trampies views ludicrous ?

Trampie who rarely reads Plaid statements is often accused of regurgitating Plaid facebook material when Trampie is not even on facebook and doesn't visit facebook, but if Trampies views are similar to Plaids and you CopperJack advocate voting Plaid because you apparently like their policies [or is it you like one policy ?] then how is Trampies views ludicrous ?
Trampies views are very middle of the road and non extreme [come to think of it just like Plaids views].

I like the fact that Trampie now speaks of himself in the third person.

No, it's your belief that all of England wants to come to Wales, take our jobs and homes, dilute our language and culture etc. The main reason I'm voting Plaid is because they're the only ones with a realistic prospect of de-throning Labour. Even if it gives the Cardiff Brigade a bloody nose, it'd be worth it. I see a vote for Labour as a vote for a continuation of wanton neglect.

Its not my belief that all England wants to come to Wales and take our jobs and homes, dilute our language and culture etc , but there has been net migration into Wales for many years with many older people coming in and younger people going out which is a problem.

You CopperJack come across as a right wing Brit Nat imperialist and if I was a member of Plaid I would not want you having anything to do with the party, you are all me me me, Swansea might well get its fair share compared to the rest of Wales, but you only seem to care about your own area and not Wales as a whole, its fine pointing out that Cardiff and the South-East seem to get most of the investment but Wales is bigger than Cardiff and Swansea, there are places in Wales that are in need of investment more than what Swansea is.

Hahaha, I'm an imperialist? Yes, I long for the days of the British Empire so I can retire to India as a Civil Servant. Cursed was the day that the Empire became the commonwealth! (I realise sarcasm may be lost on you, so let me state unequivocally, this is sarcasm). This is a prime example of what I was on about. Everyone who doesn't want to build a great wall to keep out the English, or is happy with Wales being in Britain is a Brit Nat Imperialist.

Labour is more right wing than Mrs Thatchers government was back in the day, more fool you if you think Labour are on the left.
Plaid - left
Labour/Cons/Libs/Kippers - right.

You can draw a straight line through my politics, you cant with yours, I suppose you claim Labour and Plaid are on the left and Labour is hopeless but people should vote for another party on the left in Plaid. lol.

You are making a fool of yourself supporting Plaid over one policy and taking a selfish me, me, me stance at the expense of others.

"CopperJack" - I understand you wanting to 'give Labour a bloody nose' and make sure they spread the wealth a little more evenly around Wales. I think that there is some truth to your concerns, and AMs are wary of that.

However, I do believe you are playing with fire. Giving Labour a kick up the backside at the Welsh Assembly does far more than merely decrease the vote share in May and reduce the number of Labour AMs. It serves to open the door to the right-wing, Tories and UKIP, to gain more AMs and bash left-wing policies even more. It is a very delicate time in Labour's history, and those who align themselves as socialist ought to recognise that the Welsh Assembly elections will have an impact upon the national scene.

Just my opinion.

As for Trampie, although he says he isn't a member of Plaid or anything like that, in my experience he is exactly the type of person that would be a Plaid member. The core, the heart, of Plaid Cymru are Welsh nationalists who see anyone who doesn't believe in a pen independent Welsh state as a "Brit-nag imperialist. That's just the bottom line. The party is flawed to the core.

As for Trampie suggesting that Labour is right-wing, one can only laugh. He is truly clueless. But we already knew that.

Like I asked you before, can you explain why your "left-wing" MPs abstained from the PIP legislation? Or why they are in favour of fox hunting?

RE: your latter point, that's why I didn't bother replying, it's like speaking to a wall.

I see your point, but I see little or no evidence that the AMs are aware of the problem. Look at their unwillingness to back the Swansea Bay City Deal like they did with the Cardiff deal? Look at their miniscule financial contribution to the city centre regeneration? My ideal, if I'm honest, would be the Lib Dems. But they got no chance of getting in, and I'm desperate to see Labour dethroned. Swansea needs a chance, it needs investment and it needs good quality jobs.

Look at the stats and you see how badly this requirement is - falling house prices (one of 5 cities in the UK), highest rate of jobless households in Wales, one of the lowest rates of home ownership in the UK. Swansea needs investment (the like of which Cardiff has had for 2 decades). Labour have been an utter shambles for everywhere besides their capital.

Well, we can agree to disagree about the scale of the disparity in Wales.

As for the "ideal" choice for yourself, it's not really how it works. People talk about a "lesser of two evils" as if that is a bad thing. It isn't. I've never seen a party that accurately represents my views, but you bet I know which one is closest to me, as well as which of the electable ones have a chance of realising some of the policies I advocate.

We are only on this earth once (in my opinion haha), we cannot mess around with idealist parties in a perfect world when the reality is that neo-conservatism is taking hold, and the only counter to that is the Labour Party. Let's keep our eye on the prize in Westminster, where the power truly rests, and where economic justice can be achieved.

The Labour party is a neo-conservative party with its Neoliberalism policies.

Crikey their recent Works and Pensions shadow minister Rachel Reeves said “We are not the party of people on benefits. We don’t want to be seen, and we’re not, the party to represent those who are out of work.”
She also claims that people earning £60k a year are not rich.
She also supports that imperialistic, apartheid supporting regime in Israel, being an officer in the Labour friends of Israel group.

That is Labour for you, a Brit Nat, right wing, Tory party and they have been like that for decades, Tony Blair was more right wing than Mrs Thatcher, Labour are traitors to the working class and poor.

The fact that you think there's not a disparity tells me everything I need to know about Welsh Labour. Where's our St Davids? Cardiff Bay? Millenium Centre? Sofia Gardens (and the £15m they spend on bringing the Ashes to Cardiff)? New BBC HQ? Pinewood Studios? Dr Who Studios? £500m city deal? New (well-paying) businesses that open because of grants from the WAG? New transport infrastructure akin to the m4 relief road? We get £20m for our city centre regeneration (the sum they spend every year on maintaining Cardiff Bay) and told to be grateful.

This isn't something which can be disputed, the facts are there. Welsh Labour choose to ignore them because it undermines their claim as a working-class party. Gone is the ideal of distributing wealth, they're now centralising it in a fashion that would make Osbourne proud.

That's why I said we can agree to disagree on the "scale" of the difference between the two.

Like I've said before, you're scrapping over the crumbs. The real 'coal face' is at Westminster and it is there that inequality will be addressed. Unfortunately for you, constant bashing of Labour at the assembly level will only hurt the socialist cause at the big show, the House of Commons.

It looks like you're set on your vote, and I wish you the best of luck. But don't expect any sympathy from the left-wing when you see Osborne and his crew dismantle society as we know it. And Plaid will do nothing to stop that, literally nothing.

Oh and I forgot to say. How do I know that Plaid won't do anything in Parliament if we made them the biggest party in Wales and the vast majority of our MPs were Plaid?

I know because the SNP (which it seems a lot of people like on here) haven't done anything to change policy or inequality on a national level and they are the only party in Scotland now. It has only served to help the Tories and that is the ugly reality that no Plaid voter can get away from.

Perhaps, but Wales and Swansea were better off before devolution, so I'm damned if I'm gonna put my trust in Welsh Labour who've ruled since devolution.

Our shopping centre, and marina, were both built before devolution, pre-dating their better Cardiff versions built with vast sums of WAG investment.

We may not be getting equal investment from Westminster, but our problems are closer to home. Wales has gone down in all the tables (education/health etc) since devolution, and created a city-state. Look at what they've created in Cardiff...the money's been there, it's just they've spent a vastly disproportionate amount of it in one city. A Plaid Government may not get more money from Westminster, but they'll certainly distribute it more evenly than Welsh Labour has done for the past 20 years.

Will they though? That's a genuine question by the way.

I don't think any party will change things significantly. The same gap pens in England where London gets the lion's share and understandably. Only relatively recently has funding gone towards the northern powerhouse.

Plaid may make some noises about equal distribution but merely as a vote catcher. Don't see them doing it to any signify picante amount though.

I respect your opinion, there are a few people who share your views.

However, if you think that "our problems are closer to home", I'm sorry, but you are completely wrong. The WAG doesn't have tax raising powers or anything like that, it is a devolved body with very limited powers. In fact, it is the weakest of all of the devolved bodies.

The fact that you think that the WAG is more important to our wellbeing as a country is concerning to me.

Listen - labour do not deserve another shot at this. Simply run out of ideas.

UKIP - the 'closet racists and swivel eyed loons' according to Dai Cam, are toxic for Wales.

Tories - still the nasty party of English nationalism dressed up in the union flag.

Libdems - Kirsty apart, are so damaged by Nic Clegg it can offer nothing for a generation.

Then there is Plaid, the only party that puts wales first. For example, lets start with equal funding with Scotland. Thats just fair play. Thats £300 million per year more every year for wales.

The choice is yours. ⚽️

The 2016 Assembly Elections: Which way will you be voting & why? on 08:05 - Mar 25 by Kilkennyjack

oh dear, oh dear.

"Equal funding with Scotland" - Labour have pledged to address the funding gap with a revision of the Barnett Formula. Plaid are only joining in support of a policy that Labour has already pledged.

The difference of course is Plaid could never hope to actually influence such a policy because they will never hold the balance of power in Westminster.
