Don't normally post threads, but have seen Ramsey getting absolute dogs abuse from all angles on social media so thought I'd throw my two pence in for good measure. Firstly the reaction to JET being brought off for Fer, I'm not sure what else could have been done? JET was tiring and had hardly set the world alight - he's never been an out and out striker anyway. Fer needed to come on being our most attacking option but you couldn't bring him on for one of the three attacking midfielders as they were looking fairly lively — the two wide players had come the closest to scoring and Luongo’s legs and energy gave Sheff Wednesday something else to think about as he can run in behind. To bring off Sandro or Tozser would have been suicidal bearing in mind Fer's performance and how we conceded the second against Birmingham. If he had come on for one of them and lost the ball or lost his runner and it ended up in Rangers conceding a goal and eventually losing it would have been a poisonous atmosphere. Had he been left on the bench fans would have been in uproar at the end about how we didn’t gamble. On the face of it, I can see how it looks, but Fer has got the ability at this level to play up front. He’s got a great leap, wins a lot in the air and brings others into play — he’s levels above Polter in that role and it’s not even his proper position. In my opinion there’s been a complete overreaction.
At the other end of the scale, I can’t quite get my head around the clamour for Hill. He did what was asked of him, played Nuhiu at his own game fairly well but did far more wrong than he did right. He should have been sent off when he was caught in possession by Sougou, was caned for pace when caught square by Lucas João and spent most of the second half playing aimless long balls. If Henry had put in that type of performance he would have been lynched.
Just seems Ramsey is getting hammered for anything and everything - perhaps I'm wrong but that's the way I'm seeing it.
On a more positive note, a clean sheet at last whatever way it comes is brilliant bearing in mind the form at the minute. Also Jamie Mackie doing comms was a really great gesture by the club and he seemed to offer honest and intelligent comments. Think the game last night was crying out for Mackie, it needed a tackle or something to try and get the crowd going but unfortunately it just didn't come.

Have to say I totally agree withe OP. Ramsay sees Polter every day in training and clearly feels, rightly or wrongly, that Fer up front is a better option than the German. As for Hill, I can't agree with the love fest on here for him. A great bloke, and he's been a great servant of the Club, but he is clearly past it now at our level. We didn't concede last night because without Henry we were a lot better defensively in midfield, and Wednesday were not great up front. Quite early on, Hill played a poor bouncing ball to Hall which put him in trouble, the striker closed down quickly and won possession, passing the ball into space for his partner but it was far closer to Clint and he should have cleared up, but stood off concerned about getting to the ball. Luckily we did not get punished, but not long after Hill was caught again and probably should have been sent off for the foul. I feel that Hills lack of pace will be exploited at the back and he is a bit of a liability I am afraid. He is a leader, something we sorely lack, but that meant that last night at the back when we had possession the ball would inevitably end up with Clint who has never been renowned for his passing ability, leaving him to lump it forward hoping for JET to win it. Hill had a better second half but at half time you would have put money on him either being sent off or giving away a goal before the end of the game and against a better side I think that would have happened. I don't think he is the answer at the back. And again, Onuoha is frightening at full back, got away with it last night but again is a liability there against a decent wide player.

Your argument/point loses a little credibility when the same manager brought on Polter with 5 mins to go when we were chasing a game and in desperate need for a goal. If he truly believes Polter isn't up to the job in comparison to alternatives, why did he take him to Birmigham and play him?
I agree RE Fer btw, think he's strong in the air and gave us a good target late in the game, but if Polter wasn't injured he absolutely should have been made available for selection. It's needs must when injuries hit and if he can't get a chance when 2/3 of the strikers ahead of him have knocks, then he should never have been bought in the first place.
We were in desperate need for a goal from the 65th minute, he waited 20 before giving him a run out. Does that look like someone who has faith in him?

No, but surely if you deem him worthy of bringing on towards the end of a game when you need a goal, he'd also be worthy enough for a place on the bench, especially if you knew your only other striking option was not going to last the game.
The point is if you've got him, use him. When Charlie is fit, you don't have to play him, when JET is fit, you don't have to play him, when one or both of those guys are not available, you have to play him. It's about working with what we have and playing people in their natural positions. Look at how many attacks hit a dead end last night because Cheif is not a RB, if we had a proper specialist RB playing we would have created so many more genuine chances. It's the same with playing Fer upfront - fine if there's absoltuely no other option, but unacceptable when there are.

The question for me is why did we sign Polter.
He's barely played and has been written off. The club is berift of strikers so surely the one you do have you should put on the bench?
Slightly unfair on Hill I think Jordan. Thought he made some telling clearances and blocks and competed well with a very awkward striker
Polter will probably be like Puncheon. Have one bad 15 minute cameo for us on the basis of which everyone here decides he is rubbish, and will then go on to have a successful career elsewhere
As you say, why did we sign him..presumably he was carefully scouted and assessed in keeping with the new Les doctrine?

Yes we've barely seen anything of him, but the coaching team see him every single day. I admit I haven't seen any glimpses of him being "quite good", I said out of form because I didn't want to hammer the guy.

If the Manager deems one of his strikers not good enough that an attacking midfielder (with decent attributes to be a striker) is preferable, that’s perfectly understandable.
As pointed out earlier in this thread, playing players in their natural positions is all well and good but if you need your striker to play a hold up and lay game and bring those around him into play, if he can’t do that (regardless of whether he’s a striker or not) you can understand the Manager looking at alternatives and with Fer (you yourself said he has decent qualities to be a striker) you get a better back to goal player which suits us.
You can criticise a lot of Ramsey’s decisions since he’s been with us, leaving out Polter isn’t really one.
If attacker doesn't have ball under control some refs will use that as a reason to only give a yellow, deeming g/s opportunity not "obvious" in that case, but its yellow at least.
I probably would have given a red.

CR - no tactics, no defence, no attcking, no f'ing idea JET is div 1 standard at best Polter is just a bulldozer Luongo is quite good but slow Toszer absolutely useless (capital U) Angella - must be slowest in the league (all 4 divs) Perch - weak defender Hall - not the worst but weak nevertheless Chery - like him but played out of position and nobody seems to pass to him for some reason

+ CR has brought out the worst in Onouha and a few others We've loaned out all the younsters - why? Phillips, Fer, Hoilett etc. just aren't bothered - not even sure about Austin (wiat for the abuse)
Only decent players last night were Konchesy, Hill and snippets of Luongo
NO f'n PACE anywhere in the team. No youngsters in the team. No structure in the team
When that young Bolton winger came on in second half - he tore us / Onouha to shreds
Got home last night t 11:45 - will still go but we need a complete clearout and that includes LF, CR and some of our overpaid / under-achieving players. Get Furlong back from loan - guarantee he is better than Perch. Give Doughty a go. Greco-Cox etc.

If we create a toxic atmosphere, some players, especially the younger ones, will not want to show for the ball and if they do get it, they'll take the safe option every time - the sideways or backwards pass - to avoid the vitriol they will be subjected to if they try something more creative and it goes wrong.
We should be proud of ourselves.

It's pretty simple, give the crowd something to cheer about and they will, make the same mistakes weekly and produce toothless football and they will grumble/boo.
The Poulter stuff is stupid, but you some people are just idiots.
