After the recent terrorist activity ?
For the first time ever I am now giving it some thought, especially now as we are travelling more for work etc. My other thoughts, which a quite scary are that these fcktards will target anyone anywhere. I mean, shooting people on sunbeds on their holidays is a new low.
Would they target sporting events in the UK as an example ?

So what part of the world would you feel comfortable going on holiday to ? be interesting to know. Seeing that Britain is a huge terrorist target, suggesting that the chances of being killed by a terrorist in this country is just as great as visiting any popular holiday resort. |

ffs NEVER EVER worry about a terrorist attack on holidays...you stand a higher chance logistically of having a plane crash...the odds are zillions to one against...ain t never going to happen so just go and enjoy and man up for chrissake.. |

Lovely city and felt very safe, as long as you take sensible precautions.

I spent about 6 weeks there a few years back beautiful city and nice people.
But its not like the holiday resorts of Turkey thats for sure and a bit of a shock to some..there were some aspects I did nt like.
For instance there was a group of youngsters from Korea trying to perform and sing in the square and some of the older religious types tried to stop them..luckily there was enough of us in the crowd to shout them down and they carried on. Bugger of a place to get a drink too..something like £15 a shot of whisky as drinking is discouraged. Also those fellas wailing from the mosques every couple of hours made it hard to sleep at night...sounded like and air raid siren...
Apart from that its one of the most beautiful cities...I caught a bus there from Bulgaria cost twenty quid...:) Yes I would say its a safe city to visit no problem.. | |

I would nt recommend going to Hugarda purely because it is a shtthole,go outside of your resort and it is one giant building site. Stick to Sharm. Much better choice although Canaries are still warm at Xmas.  |

I'm booked with Thompsons to go to Sharm in May, only paid £200 deposit at the moment with the full amount due to be paid by the end of February, seeing that all Thompson flights into Sharm are cancelled until March, it's not looking good. | |

'Was considering staying in Hurgada on the west coast of the Red Sea this Xmas New Years because of the price in Sharm el sheikh. Decided in the current climate it's too close to Luxor for our liking and will look at the canaries in February instead.'

Phoned Thompson on the number to contact in the cancellation emaiL, the girl manning the dedicated phone line didn't know if this included Hurgada.....

Yes they are,though the airport is heavily armed and security is ramped up...bit daft really why they stop flights to Sharm bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.
So no flights to Sharm but yes to Hurghada.

Cancun - very American, lovely white sand beaches, close to lots of historic stuff to see, would recommend if you're after an alternative to Sharm (a more lively alternative) |  |
