Letter in tomorrow's Obby on 14:31 - Jun 15 by tazzydjr | well which of the FL 72 have you taken beer into the actual stadia to drink while watching match right in-front of you on the pitch? |
Ah, you are now making your point more clearly - drinking in your seat, not simply drinking in the ground. I prefer the FL way were folks are limited to drinking in the concourses and like many others I think I can comfortably manage 45 mins without alcohol. At NFL games there is nothing more irritating then people constantly leaving and returning to their seats to buy booze and booze sellers moving around seating areas during play to hawk their booze. You get the former at rugby games but not the latter. Amazing how a topic about an inflammatory letter about maintenance work on the pitch can morph into restrictions on booze!

That's the beauty of this messageboard. Didn't expect a thread on Christopher Lee's death to morph into a discussion on wrestling!

Normal day for me. Once we've got you fully immersed in sock turnovers, we can have a look at Summerslam '92 and whether it still stands up as a spectacle today.

Who do you follow in the NFL Pioneer? Dolphins fan here. Been a long time since I had a lot to cheer about but at least I saw a victory at Wembley last year and hopefully another this. Agree with the comments on booze in seats in the NFL and in fact there has been a bit more fighting recently stateside. When you see how much they guzzle pre-match when tailgating though, it's a wonder anyone doesn't fight!

Buffalo Bills! Yes the Rochdale of the NFL - play in Blue, long periods of being no good! Never won anything! Blue collar city with lots of problems but the city adores the Bills. Been to several different teams on my travels Seattle, Arizona, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Oakland and went to New Orleans for the first time last year - but none quite match the Bills for me. And you can get tickets much cheaper than at Wembley which is why I have never gone for those games. I usually pay $50-60 for a ticket. Rarely see any trouble and the stewarding is usually superb - first sign of trouble and they are out. No segregation and often sat next to fans of the opposition who usually engage in friendly banter. Tailgating is wonderful and I have yet to see a problem during tailgate parties (as opposed to the after effects!). I might be in US at the time of the Bills v Dolphins game in early November in which case........Go Bills.

Always had a healthy respect for the Bills and they made 4 SBs back-to-back .... no mean feat. Made up to see Kelly get an all clear from the big C too - he and Marino had some epic battles back in the day! Much prefer a blue collar,lunch-pail type team to the cheating Patsies any day! The rumours of a move to Canada continue to circulate, but I don't see it. I think "Sexy Rexy" is a good coach for the Bills - that D will be awesome this year and will beat more than a few QBs up - just hope it's Brady and not Tannehill! You are well travelled. I've been to games at Cincy, Indy, Green Bay, Tennesee, Mile High, but most at Sun Life (or sun baked as the locals call it though it is being remodelled and stage 2 next year will give it a new roof). Agree on ticket prices - Wembley is a rip off in every respect. NFL ticket exchange is a good way of getting tickets, but teams are introducing variable seat prices now so marquee match-ups will get more expensive in future. People have asked me about the tailgating at Wembley ...... err .... there isn't any like the US. Totally different culture. Pub and chippy in the rain, versus outdoor barbecue, tossing some balls around and drinking for three hours then cheering till you're hoarse for another three hours. I suspect the Fins and Bills will split results Home and Away this year but I'm glad the game at Buffalo is early November for your sake and the Fins! Go Fins!

Condensed version. I got up at 8am over there which were 2pm over here and thought I'd missed the game, but it were me watch what were wrong. I had an Bud or three and took a great snap of the seat in front of me and several action shots. We won. Piccys still being developed (od school).

The possiblity of a move to Canada is now off the radar since the new ownership came on board. The senile multi millionaire previous owner finally passed away (at 90 something). new ownership has even cancelled the contract that took one regular season game to Toronto. However they have signed bully boy Incognito from the fish,,,so there are still some questinmarks about the ownership. I was at a Bills v Broncos game in the early 1990s in mid December at -20c. Made those cold windy nights at Hartlepools seem like Majorca
Letter in tomorrow's Obby on 06:46 - Jun 16 with 1933 views | JumeirahDale | Texans fan myself - amazing how even in a totally different sport, Dale fans are drawn to teams that have never won anything! Even the MVP eluded them this year despite having the best player by a country mile (don't get me started on the MVP system!) Despite the valid point around people getting up for beer (although I would say it is mitigated by the fact that there are plenty of stoppages, so you rarely miss anything - generally when the ball is in play, everyone stops what they are doing and watches the action). That's why I don't think it would work in our sport, as the action is much more fluid (no pun intended). In general though, I think the NFL creates an incredible "match day experience" across the board.
