Confidence high amongst the Rs, but for whatever reason the Owls always provide tough opposition.

I'll take a point now.

Wow, some slightly OTT responses on here today (as usual, I guess). No credit in the bank from 2 wins on the road in 4 days then ....

We weren't that bad. Have played far worse many times this season and picked up points. Just seemed in every move we made there was always one mis-placed pass.

Think the ref played a part also. So poor. Killed any momentum we had with his endless poor decisions and procastinations.

Very bizarre that a ref who would consider murder a last warning was so insistent on a nice little chat before every set piece to remind footballers of the laws of football which he doesn’t enforce anyway.

And that's why Marti won't be getting poached as long as Rohl is still at Wednesday.

First half he was passable but second half he didn't have a scooby-doo;- as evidenced by Sam Field having to tell him that it was actually a goal-kick when their keeper wasted a minute taking it from 20 yards further forward, outside of the box.

Typical Rangers, sell out crowd on a good run of wins and we were just not really at it today. Sheff Wednesday do what they seem to do at our place step up a bit and win, very similar to last season's home game where they took chances and won. We didn't create anything of note to trouble them to be honest.

Smith and their balding magician Bannon, who we never ever seem to deal with, to be precise. The two of them, plus Windass, are quality players though, even if Bannon and Smith look like they're a combined age of 100. Just not enough quality, momentum or goal threat today from us, and they really stepped it up in the second half. For me, Frey was badly off it, Chair is still sub-par, Varane was peripheral, and our delivery from corners and set pieces annoyingly shoddy. The subs were too late (and seemed to take an age to come on). Credit to Wednesday, who really did a number on us . . . again. We were outplayed on the pitch and out-thought on the bench.

All that said, I'm disappointed rather than disheartened. We're a half-decent, mid-table team, and something I think Clive may have said about how our lovely run will inevitably
come to an end once we come up against a good side who are on their game duly has.

Imho your second paragraph is spot on and sums up how I feel.

We're a decent mid table side that is having a transitional season in terms of new players coming in and today our magnificent run was ended by a good team that converted their chances in a tight game.

Come on there are no OTT comments on here as far as I can see: it was a poor performance and we deserved to lose as I don’t think any of our players rated above a 6 today.
Hopefully just a blip and we turn Millwall over next week.

Referee was weak for both teams, certainly had no bearing on our defeat.

A lacklustre performance matched by a flat atmosphere. That’s what happens when the team is on a good run, fans come out the woodwork expecting to be entertained.

Thought the team played better than some are making out. First half we controlled the game but never threatened in the final third. From memory Wednesday had the two best chances.

Second half we struggled, but had our best chances of the game. We’ve played much, much worse this season, so I won’t complain about the result/performance, especially considering the last few games.

Onto Millwall and hopefully a better result.

Considered takes from me:
* Ref wasn't great but we've seen far worse.
* Thought the first half was a terrific advert for the Rs: crowd in great voice, flamethrower football, attitude and endeavour.
* Still can't quite believe the first goal but, like it or not, Bannon's delivery was excellent. One day we'll stop him from looking like Zidane (it's not just the hair).
* Second half, I just couldn't see where we might get into them. Midfield looked confused and the forwards couldn't get free. Crossing was neither one thing nor the other and set pieces were unusually weak.
* Bad day at the office but we've played much worse and won, and recently.

The Dorse abides.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Game on. on 23:08 - Jan 21 with 2443 views kensalriser

Those next six games all look winnable to me, but realistically we'll lose to the first team that's on its game. These runs (winning and losing) happen in the Championship all the time - Oxford's record over the last eight games is the same as ours while Blackburn have won one and lost five.

Yeah you’re right: it was a jolly good performance and if it wasn’t for that rotter of a ref we’d have deservedly won 🤣

Agree with you, thought we played ok first half, without creating many chances, as you say the whole team were off it second half and even the subs lacked any real energy! Two long away journey’s with tough opponents maybe took its toll, plus they always seem to win here.
A week now until we play again, hopefully we bounce back against Milwall?
Tough MoM call today, no real standouts, Smyth was good first half but faded in the second, particularly after he was taken out, looked to be struggling last 15? Bannon was good today and really stepped up,

Let’s not forget Wednesday played er, Wednesday.
We had an extra days rest and no travel. They should of been more tired than us, yet they upped their tempo in the second half.

A bad day after a long week.

We were beaten by bigger boys.

Good point! The travel/fatigue theory can be argued either way at the very least, and is a non-starter for me, just as it was dismissed by Cifuentes himself post-match. (It's funny how it's sometimes the same fans who make Marti into a messiah are also those who happily override his own professional verdict when it suits them.) I think it's called having your cake and eating it!

We were ok for the 1st half without really creating anything but it was very flat all round today .
Just leggy and with no real zip in anything we did .

Wednesday very well organised and that Goblin looking weasel got to run the show again the longer the game went on .
I would imagine the data on Varane was telling the staff that he was nearing the red zone hence his substitution , but it left a gaping big hole in front of our back 4 that Wednesday and the creature exploited in particular.
Could be critical of Nardi for the first goal as the guy flicks it on 6 yards from goal, but he might be reading this and we can’t be upsetting them now can we? Well that’s what I was told midweek .

All in all disappointing to lose the game but nothing to get to down about . Had a great run recently and just seemed to run out of steam .

No game for a week will do us good . Some running on empty I think .

Last line sums it up really SW are giants and one of their subs (our match commentator warned us ) has scored a few times against us and sure enough he headed one in.We were getting nothing from corners with those huge units playing for them even if we had Arsenal's coach and Rice delivering the ball.
I was a bit disappointed in our subs we created nothing after they came on and predictably SW got the killer second goal

We need to find a way to overcome the other bunch of “bigger boys” over at the Den next weekend.

We still lack some strength and Physicality in this side and need a game plan that allows us to play to our strengths, otherwise, another mauling is likely.

many say stop bannan stop owls. a little bit of homework and setting a plan to nullify him seems logical. this is what el tel and allan harris were famous for, he always screws us over.
hopefully not too big a blow and we can reset and focus on a horrible game v millwall.

Marti doesn't hide behind excuses. He doesn't do the Warburton thing of making a big deal out of the fixture list and then watching a self fulfilling prophecy.

Fatigue was a factor, only making one change, in hindsight, didn't work. Marti did, fleetingly, mention Plymouth and Hull away btb, in consecutive seasons, in a recent interview.

Wednesday were probably more able to raise their game, as a reaction to recent poor results and not travelling any further than Elland Road in the last week. Paterson who I have always thought of as a big old donkey, was particularly motivated, and played well, in apparently his first game in a year.

On the day from about thirty minutes in, they got on top and were the better team. Credit to them and their manager.

I also think that the ref was atrocious and did little to stop their cheating.

Let's also not forget that Wednesday's last 2 matches were a Yorkshire derby at Leeds followed by a home game against Bristol City in midweek. A grand total of 74 miles travelled. Meanwhile, QPR had a 468 mile round trip to Plymouth followed by a 406 mile round trip to Hull in midweek. We definitely should of been (and were) more tired then them in the second half.

I really don't get this tiredness excuse. They didn't have to walk from Plymouth to Hull for Chrissakes! A few hours across the week playing cards and watching Netflix in a comfy coach - hardly very exhausting

Sorry but I think any form of lengthy travel (no matter how comfortable you are) can be exhausting.

This is one on the manager where maybe he could have freshened up the team more on Saturday. But then we could still lose and he gets pelters for changing things.

On to the next one.
