Leon - coaching staff on 17:00 - Nov 13 with 1927 views | swancity | It's a move solely to appease fans and to get them behind the team on match day and club again. It will have almost no benefit on the training ground in reality as Britton is still a player but he will have some limited involvement when not playing on match days.

Leon - coaching staff on 17:03 - Nov 13 with 1924 views | PawelAbbott | I think it suggests that Clement has 1 or 2 games to save his job. They don't want to bring in someone who is possibly going to get axed in a few weeks and require paying off. Bring in Leon and fill the gap. If it works out then It's a stroke of genius, if it doesn't it hasn't cost anything anyway.

Leon - coaching staff on 17:46 - Nov 13 with 1752 views | icecoldjack | So Leon will have a wish for us to play a passing game and neat triangles and Clements approach while here has been polar opposite concentrating on shape and the opposition ! What a great combination that is eh ? Besides the point that Clement only really played Leon when he run out of ideas last season, chalk and cheese coaches is just what we need right now. A joke appointment . Not only does Jenkins buy the players he now tells clement who his coaches will be, not long before Paul starts taking those imaginary trips to Paris me thinks ! @lost allinterestduetomorontrunning club Good luck to Leon.

Leon - coaching staff on 18:07 - Nov 13 with 1693 views | londonlisa2001 | I've always thought that Leon would have a great long term future with us, as coach, even more. Long term. After getting vital experience. Moving up the ranks within the academy and so on. This is a joke appointment. He's the club captain and his input is therefore already perfectly able to be sought as and when necessary. Complete and utter joke. He's just fulfilling the role Curtis always did - appease the fans when they get a bit restless. I feel sorry for him. He's been a wonderful servant and seems like a good bloke. And we'll just hang him out to dry. Because when Clement goes (which is transparently now going to be sooner rather than later), Britton will get replaced. And then what? The people running our club are absolute morons. [Post edited 13 Nov 2017 18:19]

Yep. Is this one of the things the Trust was talking about with the owners I wonder? They said they were discussing improvements. Is this one of them? Leon Britton as assistant manager? Did they know about this? Recommend it? Didn't know? Disagreed with it? Will we ever find out?

It seems that the attitude of most of the trusts hierarchy is to just go with the flow or in layman's terms they do as their are told and sit in the corner and be seen and not heard.

Christ, I’ve just read it. He’s assistant coach, but only when he’s not a)playing, b)training, c)playing tiddlywinks So basically he’s assistant coach when he’s injured. Clement must have become the biggest yes man we have ever had. from getting Curt out the door in hours to supinely accepting this. Does Leon know any attacking moves? We need a serious bit of luck, maybe he’ll smash it. I hope it works out. Good luck little man. [Post edited 13 Nov 2017 18:50]

Hope it works out but it's an odd one. Smacks of a populist move to placate the fans though. Is Clement the new Ancelotti now? Edit: Reminder to myself- read posts above before commenting. [Post edited 13 Nov 2017 18:56]

There are so many permutations, Lisa, that I can't really work out which one is the most likely to be true. Is it possible that the Board know that PC's on dodgy ground and want Leon in now so a successor can be brought in to work about Leon? As someone said, become the new Curt who stayed in the same sort of role (most of the time) as new managers came and went? Leon could be the stability and consistency that's been lacking since Curt left the role. He'll get good experience from being involved more behind the scenes in preparation and strategy, but I hope PC listens to him. Leon wouldn't go far wrong starting off by showing Clement the West Brom 3-1 crucifixion (or first half, at least) and the Fulham 3-0 away win. I don't think Leon's new role means that PC is staying or going. I don't think that's changed at all, although it would be different if PC had demanded someone else (from outside) and the Board said no (fearing someone else to pay off in a few days/weeks/months). I wonder if the Trust knew this was coming, by the way.....

I do not think for one minute PC will listen to Leon, I find PC quite arrogant and from his time being an assistant at some of Europe's top teams, I don't think he will consider Leon's opinions to be of some sort of value to him. I think the appointment has been thrust upon him. There is also a heavy assumption on this forum that Leon shares the same philosophy on football as some of the managers he's played under. Leon may also consider pragmatic football to be the way forward, or even a more direct way of playing. Whilst there are many cynical views on this appointment, I am pleased for Leon and if it is or isn't to keep the fans happy I'm glad to see us getting a man who knows what Swansea is all about (the city and the football club), I think we've been missing that for some time. I've also heard a new club captain is going to be appointed? [Post edited 13 Nov 2017 19:00]

Leon - coaching staff on 09:53 - Nov 13 by whoflungdung | Seems general agreement about Clement and Jenkins Ironic about cutting costs as Jenkins has not been shy of spending big ,problem is what he spent it on . We seem to de unraveling from the inside and I've have thought American I owners would see the need to protect their future profits by removing one who s killing the club The real worry is the fact they don't see it that way.Yet |
"Ironic about cutting costs as Jenkins has not been shy of spending big ,problem is what he spent it on" Yeah. like doubling the wages on a fukin useless failed roofer DoF/ fottball player spotter to start with. Be okay in January ladies and gents. You know he'll get us a keeper. I hope Ickle Leon is taking over the Curt role of filling in when Beaky fuksup and has to sack yet another manager. And I hope everyone sees through this attempt to subdue the growing unrest, by hanging another club legend out to dry and take the flak. Leon for our next DoF! Fukoff Beaky
