Double take
at 08:15 8 Sep 2024

In a top of the table clash yesterday, Charlie scored his first goal for AFC Totton yesterday however a certain L Ferdinand (I assume not the legend that we know and love) scored a brace in the first half for Basingstoke Town . Certain emotions ran through me when i saw Austin AND Ferdinand on the score sheet.....

Chaz returns to his roots

Very excited....Austin just signed for my local non-league side AFC Totton.. just missed out on a double promotion last season and found themselves in 4 cup finals (only won one but by then they'd just lost the promotion final game) https://www.afctotton.com/news/charlie-austin-signs-stags

New streaming app for Apple devices
at 14:26 1 Apr 2016

no idea if this is available on android but Universal Sport HD, which I have used a few times these last few days has given me the best (not tried to buffer once) free access to all of the Sky Sports channels I've ever had.
Even been watching some of the tennis which no stream I've ever used before works well with but this app has been magnificent

For those not going The Rs v Middlesbrough should be problem free streaming with this.

(note there are a couple of full screen adverts that pop up and after a few seconds an 'X' will appear but once these have been got rid of Ive not had any more pop ups)

Last minute goals
at 14:46 17 Aug 2015

A worry for me already - and yes I appreciate that we are only 3 games in - is that we have, as we did on many occasions last season, let in a last minute goal which has cost us points.

Last season we were dreadful at slowing play down, keeping possession, spoiling the flow of the game and we couldn't seem to run down the clock in areas of the pitch (such as the corners) without conceding quick possession and allowing the opposition to attack. Hoilett's and Phillip's attempts to do this were laughable..

I'm no tactician and have never managed a team but what are we doing wrong in the last 5-10 minutes of these games that allows opposition to put us under such pressure ?- I don't buy the arguments of fitness, concentration, naivety - surely the players can focus and have enough legs for 90 minutes, they've played for most of their walking life so naivety doesn't cut it, they have 20,000 plus fans in a stadium and god knows how many watching live to prevent a loss of concentration..

is it tactics, trying to hold onto a lead/draw? or is it just bad (crappy) luck that we seem to be undone by a mad few minutes (throwing in a wonder goal or two)

I just hope that this season isn't a repeat of last, we lost so many crucial points.....

Near misses!
at 14:50 14 Jul 2015

As a young lad growing up just south of London I had opportunity to see and support the likes of Palace, Fulham, the scum and even Wimbledon (that ages me!). I used to go with mates to Stamford Bridge but always hated the view (running track) and the threat of violence during the walk from the ground.
I had my eureka moment when standing in the East Paddock watching Sinton, Wegerle, Bardsley, Holloway, Barker and the like that I found my 'home'.

Never looked back and never regretted making that choice, could have been oh so different!
