Headers.......
at 20:09 17 May 2024

So within 3 years all football up to U12 level will see a "deliberate header" punished with a free kick.... starting next season with the youngest age 😲

How long till that becomes a rule in football in general? 🤔

Old programmes......free to a good home!
at 10:24 24 Dec 2023

Greetings all

I am currently over here for Xmas and was sorting through old possessions and found a box full of old Rangers programmes from the mid 70s and through the 80s.

I posted on a Facebook group and asked if anyone wanted them for free as they're too much to transport and it breaks my heart to dump them.

Somebody suggested the club and I've contacted them. But thought I'd stick it here too.

As I say, not looking for any money, just a good home!

Let me know if you're interested

Cheers and Merry Christmas to everyone at the greatest club in the world ❤️😊

Ferdinand, Warburton and the monthly losses
at 20:17 21 Apr 2023

So I wrote something on a Facebook group (I know I know!) saying why I thought Ferdinand should go - mainly based on my thoughts that letting MW go was a bad decision and that our recruitment has been poor.

I received this reply from someone.....

"MW wage demand was unacceptable that was one of the reasons which ignited the touch paper. In January 2022 we were flagging and injuries were becoming an issue. MW was told on many occasions to freshen up the squad with the fringe players, he was reluctant to do so and kept the same retiric going at each interview when asked the question on players he would keep saying' the 17 that got use here should keep playing. Les told him we need a forward which the reply was No, get me another Number 10. Les has become a scapegoat for the incompetence of the owners who just don't care about the club enough to invest. Please don't tell me they are putting in 2.5 million a month, that's total spin"

Would love to know people's thoughts on this!

(Personally I think it doesn't change the fact that letting MW go was wrong and I don't see how the owners can invest more without breaking ffp rules.......as for the money being put in being "total spin", no idea what he means!)

Always the bridesmaids!!
at 07:57 11 Apr 2023

Looking at the table there's a high probability Burnley will get presented the championship trophy on the day they play us.

It's incredible how many times we've played teams that either win the league against us or collect the trophy when we play them!

Other teams must pray to see us in the last two or three games on their fixture list!!

(Hopefully they'll do what we did against Leeds when we collected it in 2011 🙏)

The QPR injury crisis spreads far and wide!
at 10:06 3 Mar 2023

So today I was coaching my 6 year old students at school and decided I'd sport the hoops to do so.

I was just standing still knocking balls for the little ones to take a touch and shoot. My 17 stone 50 year old body is good for little else after all!

One kid kept taking a touch then going backwards to take a run up. I said if he did it again I'd come to close him down so he had to be quicker, he did it again so I stuck to my promise but he got a shot off....I stepped on the ball....body went one way and knee went the other.....result was knee cap sticking outside the left side of my leg and a good inch higher than it should be! 🤢

Worst pain I've ever felt......and as I lie here with leg in a splint completely incapacitated I'm putting the blame squarely on this cursed shirt 🤬

Third Round Exit Record
at 08:06 10 Jan 2023

Obviously it's been well documented that we ballsed it up in the 3rd round for the 51st time on Saturday.

My initial thought was there's been 141 finals so we've gone out at first attempt on over a 3rd of our entries. But then I realised that of course we won't have played in all the FA Cups and even in the ones we have we haven't always made the 3rd round (a certain car manufacturer springs immediately to mind 😳).

So I wondered if any statisticians out there can tell me how many times we've actually appeared in the 3rd round?

I realise this will depress me even further but my curiosity is now piqued!!

40 years of (mostly) hurt....never stopped me dreaming!
at 06:31 26 Oct 2022

Well, 40 years ago today my late Dad took me to my first game at Loftus Road (irresponsible really as we lived in Dorking, I was 9 years old and I had school the next day....gotta love 80s parenting!)

2nd leg in the milk cup against Rotherham, 2-1 down from the first leg and a 0-0 draw saw us knocked out.... you'd think that may have put me off but to me the result was irrelevant......the lights, the noise and even that plastic pitch just made me fall in love with the place and the club.

40 years on, and more than 17 years after deciding to leave England behind and start a new life here in Thailand, that love and passion for our unique and crazy football club has never dimmed.

I love living here and have never regretted my move, but there are three things I really miss....family, friends and Loftus Road. Apart from my Dad's passing in 2008 I've never felt so far from home as I did in 2011 when we lifted the championship trophy and 2014 for THAT day at Wembley.

Yeah they drive me nuts, make me angry, lead me to do things like stay awake till 5am for the privilege of watching us get stuffed 5-0 by Southend (a particular low!!)......but by God, when it goes well they can still light up my week like nothing else.....crazy for an almost 50 year old bloke who should know better!!

And unlike all the United, Liverpool, Chelsea (spit!) fans living over here......I still love the fact that meeting a fellow Hoop in this far flung part of the globe will lead to immediate recognition, conversation and kinship.

So here's to my Rangers, thanks for the ride so far and, though I doubt I have another 40 in me, here's to however many more years I have following this fantastic club.

So near yet so far!
at 18:31 5 May 2021

You know, looking at the league table it's infuriating that we lost games against 8 of the bottom 10 and but for a 96th minute goal at Sheffield Wednesday it'd have been 9. And we gave Wycombe a point too.

I know it's all ifs and buts, but given that we're basically 4 wins off the play offs it just shows how close we are to being able to challenge.

If what they said on the podcast about FFP not being a thing next season surely the board should do what it takes to keep this squad (including loanees) together and if they do we can mount a real challenge?

I really do think this is a pivotal summer for us!

A sad goodbye to a young R
at 06:34 29 Mar 2018

I don't know how many of you have crossed the path of Pattaya_Rs who is a long time user of this board in it's various guises.

I am sad to have to say his 15 year old son was tragically taken from us earlier this week in a motorbike accident and we are saying goodbye to him today in Pattaya.

James was an avid Ranger like his Dad and despite growing up over here he still got to visit LR a few times. He was his Dad's pride and joy and we've lost a member of the QPR family way way too early.

Family and friends are THE most important thing at times like this and I'm sure any messages of condolences, while of course not adequate in any way, would be much appreciated by Rob.

Sleep well little man, see you again one day in the Upper Upper Loft x

Sad loss of one of our more random R's
at 23:06 29 Nov 2014

Those of you who have visited Pattaya in the past may well remember the bar on soi 7 with a large "We are QPR" flag hanging proudly in the entrance.

The bar was run by Charlie and his wife Lek and even though they sold up about 2 years ago I have stayed in touch with Charlie. Lek has been battling cancer for a year or so now and sadly lost the fight yesterday before the game.

I always remember the first time I stuck my head in that bar and asked if they'd be showing the first game of our first season back in the premiership (as everyone else had united etc on) and I was taken aback when this little Thai lady said to me in a thick cockney accent "course we are mate......come on you supaaaa Hoopsaaaah"! Since then I've been good friends with them and I know Charlie will be absolutely devastated at losing his lovely Lek.

RIP little lady xxx

Cocky ManUre fans do my head in!
at 04:40 6 Sep 2014

Living over here I have to endure a lot of Man U fans who have never been anywhere near old trafford. I'm not talking about Thais, that's understandable, these are ex-pats and they are just total bell ends when it comes to talking about "their" club.

The worst one is from bloody Uxbridge which obviously winds me up even more and he was crowing how they will "hammer" us so I had to bite and ask what he considered a hammering. He replied that he'd bet me 2000 baht (about £40) that we lose by at least three goals.

While I think that's a possibility I just HAD to take that bet.

So PLEASE PLEASE Rangers, do your best, try to win, but above all DO NOT lose by three or more!

Your FAVOURITE Rangers XI?
at 03:21 31 Aug 2013

Reading the Leeds 1990 team thread got me thinking about my favourite players over the years of watching Rangers. I'm not talking about the best players, but the ones I most enjoyed watching (the two are not always the same thing in my experience).

Now I first went to HQ in 1982 so missed out on Bowles and the like. So here is my 11...not got a great deal of balance but has got 4 defenders!! (Think you might struggle to get Ainsworth, Fereday and Sinton in the same midfield - maybe have to stick Wild Thing in the middle!!!)

Seaman
Bardsley
Parker
McDonald
Wilson
Sinton
Ainsworth
Fereday
Tarrabt
Ferdinand
Byrne

Subs

Day
Bannister
Shittu
Stainrod
Wilkins
Dennis
Bircham

Some of these (Day, Bircham, Dennis, Shittu, Fereday, Ainsworth) would almost certainly not feature in the a list of the most talented players we've had but they are players I personally have great memories of watching for varying reasons)

Be interested to see who others would pick....

RIP to my old Grandpa - the man who made me an "R"
at 04:33 29 Aug 2013

Got a call at 4.20 in the morning over here to say my dear old Grandpa passed away in England.

He used to be one of the top dogs at Birkbeck College at the time when we trained there in the 70's and 80's and used the complimentary tickets he got to take me to my first football matches in the early 80's. Even though there is no affiliation to Rangers in my family prior to me, the time he spent with me in those early days led to my lifelong love for our great club.

Sleep well Grandpa and thanks for the wonderful memories xxx

Good omens....
at 07:22 3 Aug 2013

Ten years ago it was my Mum's 50th birthday party and I insisted on going to the game first, a good decision as it was a resounding 5-0 win over Blackpool at the start of what turned out to be a promotion season.

Ten years on I can't go to the game but it is on the tv live over here and guess what....it's my Mum's 60th birthday party today!

So pile on a 5-0 win and the R's to get promoted!!!

Happy birthday Mum and here's to a great season!

YOU RRRRR's!!!!

.....or maybe 6-0 as its the 60th!!

Highlights of the Sunderland game anywhere?
at 12:51 13 Mar 2013

I've been away for the last week and have not even managed to see our goals yet!

I saw Bosh posted some but they have been removed - I know Arg sometimes posts MOTD highlights?

Incidentally, I have sat through EVERY bloody game this year even when it's been at 2.45am on work nights but for reasons beyond my control I have missed the last two! So who is going to put a fund together to buy me enough Singha that I will promise not to watch the Villa game?!!

I think it's unfair to ask Clive to ban someone for an opinion........

.......so let's take it out of his hands.

If there is a board wide agreement for everybody to employ the "ignore" button on Scott Jones then he will be in his own little vaccum every time he makes an attempt to get recognition.

Who's with me?.........I'll start......done!!!!
