Did someone turn lockdown off. 17:30 - May 9 with 7118 views | jack_lord | I've just been out for a walk (my one and only) and was pretty surprised how crazy busy it was. I lost count of how many groups of youngers of more than 6 were zooming up and down the promenade between Mumbles and Blackpill. Yes , lots of people walking, trying to maintain social distancing but more difficult under the circumstances. There was a large group of kids congregated in Oystermouth cemetery causing a racket. It makes you feel like what is the bloody point. Loads in A&E last night after VE celebrations makes me feel a bit stupid about about what I previously supported.

Did someone turn lockdown off. on 10:40 - May 10 by Neath_Jack | Just returned from my morning walk, i saw: Two elderly gentlemen walking a dog (Jack Russell) - I see these gents every Saturday and Sunday morning. One elderly lady tending to flowers on a grave, whilst also walking her dog (Bishon Frise) - I see this lady quite regularly, although I've never seen her in the cemetery before. The mother of a VERY prominent poster from here, who stopped to speak to me briefly. I see this lady quite regularly. An extremely elderly gentleman, walking very quickly for a chap i would estimate to be around 90 years of age. Never seen him before, one to watch. A lady who i normally see out and about running, only this time she was walking (without a dog). An elderly lady pulling up weeds in the pavement outside of her house. I won't class her as being out and about due to the close distance she kept to her house. Two unidentified cyclists (they were travelling too quickly to observe properly). |

Did someone turn lockdown off. on 10:14 - May 10 by Best_loser | Peter Hitchens of the daily mail contends that there should never have been any kind of lockdown He claims in the long run the lockdown would have saved very few lives but assured economic desolation for years I don't like Hitchens but I can't be sure he is wrong Only looking back sometime will tell us that |
As an old fart, of the Meldrew school, I would tend to agree with his opinion. If as a nation we were fully prepared for such an occasion, I am sure that implementing social distance measures as we see now in force over a weekend , would have helped greatly, as it is we are in a mess now and dont know whether to put our right foot in, or our left! its going to be a long haul, so get an electric bike for back and fore to work, even though they are illegal, and most if not all the motors are from China.

It is just possible that the death toll would not have been dramatically higher provided the vulnerable shielded. They would have all come together though, along with those who have needed hospitalisation which would have overwhelmed the NHS. Hitchens clearly doesn’t understand flattening the curve.

Did someone turn lockdown off. on 11:33 - May 10 with 1296 views | airedale | I can’t wait for boot sales to start again. I’ve got a shedfull of toilet rolls, hand gel, pasta and flour to shift. (Self raising and plain if anyone’s interested.)

Count me in. I've tried plain toilet rolls before, but not self raising. If it's the gel that's self raising, I'll purchase the lot.

Well I have been using the plain and the wife the self raising one since lockdown, her arse has definetly got bigger...... Might suggest she starts rubbing it elsewhere. [Post edited 10 May 2020 11:45]

Did someone turn lockdown off. on 11:50 - May 10 with 1249 views | NotLoyal | I’m thinking of making an anal insert that spins round with a small water type projectile built in that squirts when you clap your hands. Wouldn’t work that well at lego land but it’s a novelty buy at car boots as an example. They could I suppose come in different sizes, or colours, in fact for collectors they could have names as well. Could be a goer.

Yes, good on them for taking action but strange that their league football resumed on Friday and wonder if it will be paused again.

There's another of these I've seen from around Swansea somewhere. No doubt they'll all be out clapping, letting of fireworks, beeping car horns on Thursday. If you're not joining in you are disrespectful, apparently. Pop down KFC after and make sure you leave your litter on the carpark floor. Absolute scum. [Post edited 10 May 2020 12:51]

Did someone turn lockdown off. on 09:36 - May 10 by ItchySphincter | In a year’s time, definitely in five years’ time, people on here will be moaning about how the effects of the lockdown are worse than the effects of the coronavirus. I’m not being cold hearted here but our kids are going to feel the fallout from this for much longer than those that we have shielded and protected. We’ve stuck to lockdown rules and social distancing but the public’s perception of the lockdown will change when the realise where we’ve landed after this. |
Is absolutely the correct answer.

So if we lift/ease lockdown in the hundreds......... For the people who are calling for lockdown to be eased or even totally pulled, do the maths. I was confident that we would be eased down by the end of this month, I now feel that lockdown will go into July.

Could well be. The clap (ahem) reminds me of when a work colleague/mate and I visited the gents for a pee in a Brussels airport. I was first to the sink, and clocked the foot switch to turn the tap on (great idea btw). My mate couldn't work out how to turn them on so I did a demo by clapping, but obviously pressing the footswitch. To watch him clapping like a seal with no water coming out for a good minute was brilliant. Pranks were always a huge part of business trips. He had me back months later by smearing engineering blue over the handbrake and steering wheel of my MG. Mrs Jinxy said I looked like a smurf. Happy days.
