Bury, some mortgage questions.... on 20:27 - Jun 24 with 2359 views | SuddenLad | "We carried out significant due-diligence before approaching Perry and he was highly recommended by several extremely successful and high profile individuals within the sports industry. Perry’s 12 year history of commercial sports success working for several years with individuals such as Karren Brady at Birmingham City, we feel will only add to the talented team we are assembling here at Bury. Mr Deakin has proven to be very professional in all aspects of his consultancy role and this wave of wild and inaccurate speculation will only hamper the progress we have made in our short time at the club and ultimately the clubs future financial well-being." Bury, some mortgage questions.... on 19:00 - Jun 24 by Daley_Lama | The alternate way of looking at this is that it is simply business practice, as new owner of Bury, Stewie is securing his investment and there's nothing more to it than that. Also, given the mass exodus of every man and his dog, the only reliable employee who could witness such a document was Captain Gordon. There you go, an open mind. Space Cadets have open minds too. |
Healthy scepticism as to the validity of the document aside and presuming the document is bona-fide, then I agree with you Daley that there is nothing overly controversial about securing investment or raising funds, supposing they are for investing in the club and the club alone, via a mortgage secured on their only tangible asset. I imagine many clubs have done similar things to hive-up money. Worse case scenario is that it is intentionally done to obtain the asset or the club cannot service the mortgage debt, best case scenario is that the club can manage to service the debt and the money released translates into higher profits. However, all the conjecture aside, what is clear, if the document is real, is that this regime has no money or has no intention of spending it's own money in running the club.

Some, not all, Col. Good thread this lads, good to read the comments of people not emotionally attached to the club. Worryingly, I think you're all incredibly near the mark, but you can't say that on our board. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I'm actually beginning to be a bit worried for you lot. Seems life over there is either "Just trust them, they're good people" or "We're on the titanic". Interesting viewing but I have to say I don't want to see your club follow the likes of Darlo, Stockport etc.

FFS ShakerMaker, you need to bang some heads together and rally the troops. At least start asking the right questions instead of blithely following the prepared script without a word in reply. It's YOUR club it should matter.

Blimey. A bucket that thinks like a Dale fan! A rare and endangered species. You should be stuffed and mounted on the wall in a stately home! The mighty robshaker was in touch earlier saying he was having doubts! Half an hour later he was saying it's ace being a bury fan and he's optimistic! I remember Killie once telling me that back in 1980, he felt it was vital we owned our own ground which would give us a base from which to build. Getting the ground back from Euroway Cars (?) was the first brick in our comeback. The first thing the new bury lot have done is remortgage the ground. Says all you need to know - it's the Tommy Cannon approach. Raise money off the land, build a team, do well and buy the ground back. If it all goes wrong, walk away as it isn't our club, or money. If it all goes well, take dividends. Trouble is, how will 7 players do well? And the "fans" won't be happy! Are bury the only club to whom customers are referred to as "fans"? With the implied suggestion that any dissenting voices should shut it and comply. Mind you, one of them is taking solace in the "fact" that Hill is overspending!! Seriously!!!

Bury, some mortgage questions.... on 20:09 - Jun 24 by Daley_Lama | just had this little beauty land in my inbox.... Firstly, the board would like to make it very clear that Mr Perry Deakin is not a shareholder or director of Bury FC, but has been contracted as a commercial consultant to advice the club on sales activity across our commercial operation. We carried out significant due-diligence before approaching Perry and he was highly recommended by several extremely successful and high profile individuals within the sports industry. Perry’s 12 year history of commercial sports success working for several years with individuals such as Karren Brady at Birmingham City, we feel will only add to the talented team we are assembling here at Bury. Mr Deakin has proven to be very professional in all aspects of his consultancy role and this wave of wild and inaccurate speculation will only hamper the progress we have made in our short time at the club and ultimately the clubs future financial well-being. The board, of course, appreciate concerns, but only has the football clubs best interests at heart and is working tirelessly to secure a long-term, successful future of which our supporters can be proud. Our priority moving forward is to make Bury FC an independent financial business that can stand on its own two feet. We strongly believe that people should only be judged on performance and we ask that judgement is made at the end of the season rather than making comments on non-proven third party statements. The board is disappointed by some of the language being used by ‘fans’. However, we believe it is only a minority who think this board would do anything to damage the club moving forward. As fans have seen, many decisions have already been made in the best interest of the club, and todays return for pre-season training demonstrates our scouting network has already reached beyond the wildest dreams of many fans who believed we would struggle to field a squad able to compete during the coming season. Therefore we politely request that employees and consultants be allowed to continue to work incredibly hard in providing you with a club you can be proud of and be judged on what they deliver rather than gossip. Thank you for your patience. The board of directors |
