1) A club that has no debts now has a mortgage 2) A board that have yet to sign a single new player have sanctioned a charge over their ground. 3) This document surfaces on the day that the new chairman says "judge me in three years"
I guess they can't say that they are mortgage free anymore!
George Bernard Shaw had it right:
"He who can does; he who cannot, teaches."

Bury, some mortgage questions.... on 22:42 - Jun 24 by SuddenLad
Well judd, you have far more knowledge of commercial financial matters than I have, but I have to say that from the layman's perspective, it just doesn't seem to add up somehow.
It's like one of those situations where you poke something with a stick to see if it twitches or to see whether it's actually real, without knowing what will actually happen.
I find it all very disturbing.
I have no evidence of my guess work, just supposition really. Commercial mortgages are difficult to land at the moment, so a big deposit, possibly inflated interest rates will all come into play if the business plan exhibits elements of risk associated with an ability to repay over the full period of the loan And I would expect that bury's cashflow projections are as attractive as daytime TV.
No doubt the new board are extremely well connected with commercial funders.
Why wouldn't you seek a charge (perfectly legally) over several acres of land just off the main commuter road into the metropolis of Manchester?
You'd think a proper journalist would be able to put a bit more flesh on the bones than effectively saying 'well, I'm fooked if I know who he is, why he's doing it and how much it's costing him'. And then nothing more in the next three and half weeks.
Bury Times - Watergate Scandal - 1972
Today the Democratic Head Office was burgled by who we don't know and why is anybody's guess.
Some time later
President Nixon has resigned over painting the Whitehouse or sommat, who knows.
Some time even later
President Nixon got well p1ssed off in an interview with Alain Prost who looks suspiciously like Brian Clough and Tony Blair.

Imagine the boost to the classified "houses for sale" section though.
My assumption is that in Bury supporting quarters, from the bit I've read, there's a few noggins cranking and checking which way the wind may be blowing.
Same as what this place would be like if/when potential sharks got the key to the door.
If I was a Bury fan I'd be reading here as much as their own board, the overwhelming sense of this thread is "something smells" not anti-bury or the fans, unless is a pee take about them accepting being spoon fed.
GL shakers, hopefully the "fan of football" will turn out to be a football fan.
This makes me laugh as in the 1980's a brazillian lad came to play for our sunday morning team. ( His mum had married some Rochdale bloke )
Can you imagine he was straight it at centre mid and we thought he would pull all the strings.
The toss meant we had to change round halfs before kick off and this fella just didnt move and stood with the oppos Centre half waiting for kick off.
Turns out the lad had 2 x left feet ( not in a gifted way!! ) and had never stepped foot on a football pitch before - him mum just wanted him to make some friends so said pretend you know what to do. Maybe this 40 year old is the new Brazillian hope for the Gigglers after 20+ years learning the rules!!!!!
