If this is proved to be true. Disgusting, throw the book at him and sack him, no place for that.
Club Statement on 16:00 - Jan 13 with 6418 views | 49thseason | As I pointed out elsewhere this should have been sorted out in Dunphy's office at 9.00 this morning. Leaving the "investigation" till Monday just gives time to add petrol to the flames. We already look to the outside world as if we are not really interested in taking the lead and getting to the truth.
Club Statement on 16:16 - Jan 13 with 6350 views | YouTubeDale | IF Grant is found guilty then he should pay for his crime. If that means we can still play him for the rest of the season (whatever that is) then we should. Sacking him could be a further body blow for our season. There is no need to punish ourselves further. We need every bit of help we can get. The club has already condemned racist acts and will stand by the punishment, if any. We then have to move on.

8 match ban and a fine if found guilty, I would show him the door.

Precedent has already been set for those found guilty by the FA. Met Police involved could lead to a criminal prosecution and that may lead to contract termination if a guilty verdict is reached. Let's see what the outcome is.

IF found guilty, and an 8 match ban, it could be disastrous for the club. How much of a fine - we don't know. This could be the turning point for the rest of the season. Coleman's "plans" may have to change now. For example, he might have to get Curran back from Chester (sorry, I can't remember his loan period now). Chris Dunphy might have to spend even more money on wages to steady the ship. It's a nightmare (potentially). Even more reason for supporters to get behind Rochdale Football Club instead of staying away.

Club Statement on 16:42 - Jan 13 with 6175 views | D_Alien | For a footballer who's made a habit of trying to con referees this season, it may not be possible to establish his guilt or innocence but... what goes round doesn't half come round, eh?

I'm glad that his playing ability put that to bed. Saying that he isn't from Liverpool and he's never played for Accy.
Club Statement on 17:13 - Jan 13 with 5981 views | YouTubeDale | If it is one man's statement versus another man's (assuming Grant denies it) and therefore there are no witnesses then surely there can't be any charge. I am not trying to stand up for Grant if he was racially abusive. I am just trying to put a brave face on it and perhaps he will not face a ban if this is the case.

But as I mention on another thread, the D&R statement includes: "The club will fully support Gavin Hoyte during the investigation and has complete faith in his honesty and integrity." In other words, it seems, "if Gavin says he said it, then he did!" I suppose we have to censor ourselves rather than write the (alleged) word.

Exactly. Sometimes people can get punished on lies and misinformation. Especially if the political will is there and currently racism in football is a very political hot potato. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I think the police statement you refer to embellished what was actually said, even the the fooker wasn't even there! Mitchell never denied the argument, just the extent of profanity. The "witness" in the Sun link said the remark was made "apparently" and also that he "heard" it. Make your own minds up. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4741015/Bobby-Grant-accused-
