36 teams..in one league..all play 8 games..who plays who?..how is that decided?..seeded?,,,random draw?
Top 8 qualify then positions 9 to 24 play 2 legged tie to decide who goes through.
Baffled....

Of course the top level coaches who are absolutely livid at the sheer weight of fixtures every time they have to play Shrewsbury in the EFL Cup or three Premier League games in 10 days with their 50 men squads, will be furious about the addition of a minimum of two extra Champions League games won't they?

This process of Super League by Stealth will put pressure on top national leagues to reduce (further) the number of teams, in England for instance from 20 to 18 clubs
After all, who wants to play Norwich and Watford every other season? And in turn, why not reduce relegation to one team only. The EFL will have to lump it, but if they want a direct example of how to kill the game beyond the so-called elite they need look no further than Rugby League | |

They've come back a bit from the original proposal but it's still absurd. How many Premier League teams in Europe!!
I don't know whether it's ever been considered but instead of giving positions to 2nd through 5th, 6th, 7th or whatever why not give European places to the winners of domestic cups, true 'Champions' if you will. On one hand it would offer a perceived 'Easy route' to Europe for the big clubs and it would be well received by the rest of football as even Dale could potentially qualify. | |
