“Abrar Hussain, owner of Cars 2000 in Rochdale, told the Manchester Evening News: "The cost of a vehicle less than five years old is in the region of £15,000. The majority of private hire cars in Rochdale are worth between £3,000 and £4,000.” Think Mr Hussain might be telling a few porkies there. Most of the ones I see flying about are worth about ten quid.

Perhaps the vehicle standard assessors should get themselves down to 1 Riverside at the allotted time? Make some notes of which cars are pushing the health and safety limits etc. A few years ago I heard a tale where the inspectors were pleased to see that one Private Hire company was putting new tyres on their vehicles...until it was realised it was the same set being put on the whatever vehicle being inspected.
