Do they allow laptops in the Dog? (Not lapdogs, obviously...) Take him in there, it'll further his education

The numbers appear to be heading only one way at present and it’s a case of fingers crossed the impact isn’t seen too much in hospitals again.

To go for a swift one or not to go for a swift one? That is the question the barred should have asked himself?

The last home fixture before Christmas always struggles to attract people up to the ground. Crowds around the country are going to be well down this weekend, with hospitality venues being hit badly too Watching midweek MOTD, the gate at Brighton was given as over 30,000 - tickets sold. Looked more like 15,000 on the box I forecast a COA gate somewhere in the region of 1500

Our gate will be over 2000 as we will show our season ticket holders whether they turn up or not. But whether there are 2000 there will be interesting. If fans follow the protocols asked by the club there is no reason to be spooked. But I suspect few will wear masks. Hope I am wrong as the club will have a torrid 8 weeks or so if people don't feel safe to turn up

At one of the recent home league games they did the usual break down of the crowd between home and away fans, the home figure was below 2000. Think it was Exeter when the total crowd was 2100ish. EFL update:

Yes it was below 2000. But I seem to recall that we sold over 1500 Season Tickets. Add a few cash sales and away fans and we should be over 2000. My comment was a response to DA guess of 1500 rather than anything more scientific, as Season card sales would suggest more than that

Have checked the programme now: Stevenage 1764 with 1698 home fans Exeter 2102 with 1781 home fans Also the Stevenage game was when SC holders could bring a friend for a fiver.

It was upon these home fan attendance figures, plus the added Omicron factor and the traditional lower attendance pre-Xmas that my estimate was based In posting the poll, i was trying to gauge whether there was (on here) an appetite for attending despite Omicron. Anyone not attending due to the Omicron factor should, of course, have their choice respected

The Premier League and EFL have got a massive job on their hands with Covid-19 and keeping fans safe in a world where the Government isn't going to lockdown again for mainly political reasons. I watched the Palace vs Southampton highlights and if you look at the Holmesdale Road End behind the goal they are packed in like sardines. You can see it coming that the Government will say that have to limit attendances again to a proportion of total capacity and if that comes up we are not going to be too badly hit by that because if the limit was say 5,000 fans we can get most of them in safely. We are almost at the point regarding Covid where it might be worth thinking about opening up just the Wilbutts as home fans only and allow everyone to space out in the best stand on the ground and safe in the fresh air as socially distanced as possible. Close the other three stands and have a one way in, one way out mechanism like they do in the shops. It is 2,000 home fans then thats about 50% capacity of the stand. With the exception of Bradford, I don't think most away teams we still have to play will bring very many and their fans could be accommodated elsewhere in the ground and kept separate and safe. Depends where the Government go I suppose.

Wouldn’t opening up part of the Willbutts alongside the existing stands be a better way of giving the fans more choice to spread out? It would actually be worse for those in the Sandy as can move about and stand where there are gaps. Being limited to a seat wouldn’t suit some and even those from the Pearl Street would be moving from a stand that isn’t half full (capacity 2400) to one that would be if 1800 home fans are there. The stand it would really benefit in terms of numbers and spacing out, would be the main stand and it’s a good idea to give that option if possible.

I don't think there is any good way through this. Last time, Government shut the country down and that stopped fans going to games. Currently Government's plan appears to be leave everything open and plead to people not to go. The spike is larger and quicker than before because there is much more mixing than before and according to the scientists this is a more difficult variant. Anything that keeps people safe and keeps attendance possible is going to be a good thing.
