Glory days, best season ever. But we shouldn’t forget the cost, especially that incurred in the second season that saw us plummet to the basement of the football league. Thankfully we have management that has ensured that didn’t happen again.
Like it was yesterday.... can still see in my minds eye that opening game in glorious sunshine and the feeling walking away from the Vetch THe buzz around the City us being on MOTD!!! Tosh brought us great things I never thought Id get to watch us in the top flight again and gutted my Dad didnt get to enjoy us in the PL or the Championship he died just before Martinez got us promoted...I m sure many can share the same
...they were great times especially after languishing at the foot of the footabll league for so long and even having to apply for re election (for those of a certain era if you finished at the bottom of the league old Div 4 you had ti "apply" to stay in rather than a non league side getting the spot) it was magic especially that opening day there was no room to move on the North Bank

I was in the Wing stand that day, I think it seemed more magical because I was young, I was 14.
As great as it was though, I think finishing 8th in the EPL is a better achievement, put in context.
For me the best ever season, but we did get a few wake up calls at WBA and Man City, shipped four goals in both games. Plus the welcoming committee’s at certain grounds was let’s say, challenging but for a young man it all added to an exciting day.

Glory days indeed.
I was in the centre stand that day, watching us play Spurs in a Combination game, people had radios on and when Garry Stanley scored the winner, a big roar went up.
Play stopped for a second on the field they all looked at the stand in amazement
You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Missed the nihilation of Leeds was on way home from Hols, don't think me and my good Lady missed a match at home all season and most of the away games, we weren't married then so it was easier, Malcolm Struel wanted the best, but it was a well meaning fanciful idea, we just couldn't afford it and it all came crumbling down.
The 2-0 win against both Manc's were especially fantastic.
