New manager FRED 22:56 - Jun 30 with 17572 views | kel | What’s everyone thinking then? Personally reckon Wilbraham will at least apply after taking charge at Shrewsbury while their manager was ill. Not saying I want him or owt but he might fancy his chances.

New manager FRED on 14:49 - Jul 1 with 4295 views | James1980 | Hill favourite at 5/2 with skybet. Couple of outside chances Robbie Fowler and Mark Hughes both at 25/1 surely the odds on either of them joining should be in treble or quadruple figures. Although Nigel Adkins and Mike Newell are even longer odds of 33/1

Nigel Adkins, the manager of Charlton, you mean? They just look at forums, look at out of work managers and then make up some odds.

I guess that is who they mean. Sol Campbell is an 18/1 shot might stick 50p on him for a laugh to if his odds shorten

You know what at odds of 18/1 it might be worth a crafty quid bet,I could actually see him coming to Dale but beware,he's a bit funny about not being paid

Surprised that Robbie Fowler is shown as an outside bet. Was he not touted for a Div one Managers position recently Personally think he could be in the frame for at least an interview

He may be able to provide another option to "toeing" the line.

He was doing ok at Brisbane Roar until Covid arrived last year. They eventually sacked him cos he couldn`t get back to Oz when the season restarted, so he sued them for lost wages and won. Gave the money to charity, so not a bad bloke in that respect.

New manager FRED on 11:36 - Jul 1 by boromat | Put on another thread Ellis I'm sure would be great but also not sure he wants it and does a brilliant job where he is. Hill would be unpopular but is a known entity, knows the club and is proven at this level. I'd understand if he was brought back on a one year deal. Otherwise I think it'd be an unproven manager. Riley and Jim could be given the chance and is the cheap option that also maintains some type of continuity. Ex Players McShane Holt Wilbraham John Doolan Quite difficult to think of many to be honest. Anyone know of any others that have gone into coaching? |
Lee Thorpe is coaching at Blackpool Academy and is the new joint favourite alongside Hill on Bet Victor at 4/1. Mark Jackson is under 23 manager at Leeds. Paul Tait is head coach with Everton Academy as well.

New manager FRED on 11:23 - Jul 2 with 2438 views | EllDale | I'm gradually coming round to thinking that Hill might be a good short-term option. Knows the division, knows the club. The only caveat is would he, sensing an inexperienced board and administration, try to impose himself on all aspects of the club again? I don't think we need anyone whose an Academy coach elsewhere at the moment. We need a proven, hardnosed operator.

I'm undecided. If Hill wants the job and we don't opt for him then we are going to have a task on our hands getting someone with a similar track record. Hard-nosed operator is a good phrase for the sort of character to guide us through this, especially if the likes of Tisdale and Nolan are simply out of reach. Those hard-nosed kind of managers can be conflicting characters e.g. Martin Allen. On balance, I'd welcome someone like him who could shake things up and has contacts, rather than an academy coach. Is Lee Thorpe our ex player that got done for failed drug testing? If so liked him as a player, but his time here became tainted. um!

Add that to Eddie howe. Reasoning being that he managed Bournemouth in league Two. At that stage I removed myself from the group.

I wouldnt worry too much about the new board, they seem to be generally well organised and doing the things that need to be done. They have moved decisively to fix the things that obviously needed fixing and are in the process of putting their plans into place quickly and with good communications. I have no doubt the new manager will get a very clear brief on what they require and what is not required. There is a palpable whiff of fresh air blowing through the club, a new manager, a few more players and a few points on the board, especially at home, and we can start to be more optomistic about the club's future.

New manager FRED on 10:40 - Jul 1 by RotherhamDale | I think we need a new direction completely. Somebody who has never been at the club before. We have gone completely stale on the pitch for the last 5 years. |
and it fits with the new directors, new operating structure, new Supporters rep etc - a clean slate?
