The death of a dog 00:57 - Dec 31 with 23832 viewsLohengrin

My brother, who in all honesty in the forty seven years I've known, has never shown the slightest indication of possessing finer feelings is inconsolable. I mean, he wasn't like this when his marriage broke up!

What do the amateur psychiatrists on here make of mans' attachment to dogs?

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

My step dad is a hunter, rabbiting and all that - one of the spaniels had a tumour on its bollocks, took it up the mountain and shot it.

Terrible, also witnessed puppies having their tails chopped off.

I stole a spaniel puppy from my neighbour when I was 12 after that (who was also a hunter) told my mum I was sleeping over my friends house and slept in the shed with the puppy, I had no long term plan! The f*ckers caught me and put it down!

A guy who lives near me, loves his hunting he`s one of these muscle bound roid heads a right hard case by all accounts, he was posting his kills all of the time on Facebook, he ended up receiving a brutal beating so bad he is now a totally nervous wreck, the police think these Animal activists saw what he was posting and did a hit on him but they have no evidence to prove anything.

A pet is a pet, let them have the run of the house, they are part of the family.

That's what we think as well.

Just have to try to make her realise she's not actually the head of the family...

I was laughing at the thought of not allowing Eastern Europeans upstairs. How on earth would the bedrooms get cleaned?

Our pup is a Blenheim. The old dog was a tricolour. They love company don't they?

Yeah, they're great company for each other & real lap dogs. I don't want to think of how 1 would cope without the other but hopefully that's a long way off.
They came from a litter of 3 & the other puppy was a Blenheim

A dog complains when they're in a different room to the one you're in, so really, it's opposite to your wife when you think of it :-)

My dog sends himself upstairs to bed when he’s ready, usually around 9.30pm. He knows when it’s bedtime.

Many of you who drink in the Globe pre and post game will be aware of this nutcase. Sadly as so often happens with German Shepherds her back legs are starting to go. Don't relish my mum having to make that decision.

I've met that terrifying beast.

After getting over the shock of her barging into me like I wasn't there within minutes we were good mates. F*cking handsome animal with a lovely nature.

No. She's very rarely left alone though to be honest.

She hates it if we're in the house and she can't get to us - unless she's sleepy she'll whine like hell because she thinks she's being left out which she hates. But if she's left alone for a couple of hours while we're out she seems to be fine. It's apparent that she's plonked herself on the armchair or sofa and slept (can hear her shaking herself when we come through the door and there is a tell take warm patch where she's been sleeping).

Don't ever leave her for more than about 2 or 3 hours - if it's longer than that, she goes to a sitter. And we didn't do it until she was older - when she was very young we were worried she'd be distressed.

She's fine at night as well. Has always slept in the kitchen with no fuss - in her crate until she was about 6 months but now she doesn't have one any more.

Touch wood but we've never had any problems with her destroying anything either other than the odd tea towel. Some dogs are terrible at chewing everything if left - she's never done it.

Just don't do this Lisa. I know the woman this happened to, old school friend.

Sorry for your loss fella.

One of the worst things I have ever had to do. Tosh started having fits 3 months ago was under control with tablets until Monday night, he had 8 fits in 12 hours the last one very distressing for him.

I had no choice but to do the decent thing ....we are all devestated.
