Probably because a team is deemed to be responsible for the behavious of its fans? If they behaved themselves then crowd segregation and policing wouldn't be an issue. In other words, the primary cause of the problem is the behaviour of their fans and that has been recognised. As you've probably guessed I support the decision. Yeah, I agree, although in Russia's case it permeates right the way through the association and into the government. If Greg Dyke called English hooligans 'real men' and said 'congratulations lads' on Twitter you'd expect some kind of sanction and rightly so.

It is frightening that the Russian establishment are essentially supporting the violence. This has wider concerns in how Russia now behaves on the world-stage. At what point do the stronger, sensible and more established world FA's tell FIFA and UEFA where to stick it and run their own version of the world and european championships?

As someone else said, they've invaded a country, shot down a plane, and murdered people on foreign soil. No shame.
This country has things to be ashamed of but it's not racist, homophobic, excessively corrupt, or murders critics of the government.

I doubt there's any need for state sponsorship. I believe Russians still have to do military service so they would have a common grounding in basic infantry tactics. They can pick up helmets, gloves etc anywhere even if they didn't bring them from Russia. |  | | |
