Britton Getting Better Says Boss |
Leon Britton is a man on form at this moment in time and his manager is one person who agrees totally with that statement. Britton has made the right wing spot his own since the move from the Vetch Field last year and is now playing football that is getting better all the time according to the man who selects him every week Kenny Jackett told the Evening Post''I have said to him he can go on and be the best player at the club, In the last month or so he has stepped up. I have felt that his performances have gone up a notch. ''He is the one who is pushing on in my mind, he is the one who's improvement has been very good.'' Jackett feels that since switching Britton from centre midfield to the right, the former West Ham youngster is brimming with confidence. ''His self confidence is now coming,'' the Swansea boss said. ''He has the confidence to go past people and produce. ''Before the Port Vale game I asked him about corners because I wanted Robbo (Andy Robinson) in the middle. ''I said to Leon 'do you think that you could take these?' He wasn't so sure yet the first one he took was right on the nail. ''At 24 it's good to see that his confidence is really coming through and he has raised the bar.'' ''When I first came to the club he was a centre midfield player but he now seems to know the right midfield very well,'' Jackett added. ''When a full-back is showing him down the line he has got a nice cut back on the left which means he can go inside or cross with his left foot.'' Raising the bar is not designed to make Bayo headers fit under it What to read next:Rochdale AFC’s matchday programme – The Voice of Spotland – is back for Saturday’s Vanarama National League fixture against Oldham Athletic.
