In a surprising move, Jason Taylor has extended his loan deal at Spotland, with Adam Rundle set to return to Rochdale too.
Surprising, in terms of many supporters were expecting that it would not be possible for us to extend Taylor's loan move. Since arriving from Rotherham, he has been an overwhelming success helping to guide Dale to their best run of form since 1970 with six wins from six.
There'd been speculation in both Rochdale and Rotherham, that the Millers would be unwilling to allow Taylor to continue at Rochdale. Whilst Taylor seemingly faces an uncertain future at the Don Valley Stadium club, it has not gone unnoticed that he has played a vital role in helping creating a gap between his contracted club and one of their promotion rivals.
But that speculation was proved wrong on Monday with the news that Taylor would be continuing at Spotland for another month, keeping him here until 21st January. However, under the terms of the loan deal, Taylor will not be able to play when Dale host Rotherham on 2nd January.
One man not extending his loan spell is Adam Rundle. Rotherham have not shown an interest in extending this loan deal after a spell which saw the former Mansfield man make four appearances for the Millers.
Rundle was mostly played out of position on the right wing, and it is believed Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore, who watched Dale's 4-0 win over Shrewsbury at the weekend, would prefer to sign someone more suited to that position.
