Wow, it's just been announced that the U's are to name our new manager as quick as tomorrow!
Seems likely to be an internal appointment then?
I am a little surprised after David Wright said only last week that he was going to ponder the appointment over the summer! What the hell is going on at my beloved club?
So we go into the new year bottom of the league, 9 straight defeats, 1 win 1 draw and 12 defeats in last 14 league games, last league win 20th Sept. And no more Callum Harriott along with his 7 goals and priceless assists! ........That's the bad news out the way, now for the positives.....a new manager and a budget that may stretch to one or two new players. Sorry but I really can't find many positives. I sincerely hope we go out and find TWO experienced defenders and another pacey winger. Or it's league two for the U's I fear?
According to BBC Essex today, Kevin Keen is sitting next to RC at the Rochdale game. Looks like it's inevitable we shall get an external appointment after all? Having said that, I am a little concerned it may be a bit of 'an old pals West Ham connection'. Hope this guy is head strong, and is able to influence and strengthen our failing side. Should we appoint him. Latest......Kevin Keen spotted at Southend's home game on Friday night too.
Breaking news today, Wayne Brown will NOT take U's job. He was hot favourite for the job. Ahead of all our other 'internal' staff, so where to now? I think we should discount Mourinho!
I think I need to change my vote on my poll to 'Just a flash in the pan'. October returned just 4pts from a possible 18pts, during October. I fear now , we may be heading down the table. Hope I am wrong, but it appears we cannot tighten up our defence, and we have no funds to improve the situation with loan signings either. Looks like it may be 3rd time unlucky on the relegation front, by the end of this season!
