Have I missed something somewhere? From the Watford message boards, Watford seem to have a misplaced impression that they are bigger than QPR and somehow our ‘cup final’. A very strange team and lack of self awareness indeed.

While I enjoy any win, there are some I appreciate a little more than others, Watford fits into that category. Although I only knew a couple of their fans when at school, and never saw any around Wembley, I didn't have to travel far up the line to start spotting the occasional scarfer. Maybe that little bit of proximity, or years ago after their bigging it and subsequent surprise at our numbers and taking over the town when we did play 'em after going down, also stuck in my head.
And Troy Deeney.
Oh yeah, there was a small disturbance issue when we bumped into them in '78.
Imagine being a Watford fan !!! It’s up there with collecting stamps or being a train spotter
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

They’re an odd lot. They’re not in London. They have some right old anorak fans. Their town is grim. Thankfully we only have to go there once a season.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Well, our "final" game of the FA Cup usually takes place in January against some nondescript League 1 or mid-table-at-best Championship side, maybe that's what they had in mind.

Watford like Fulham come in numbers but are never seen anywhere outside , a complete non entity of a fan base , the Willesden warrior sums it up you’ve got no fans! Two teams of Telly tubby watchers!

Did anyone else see the bloke on Uxbridge Road at about 11:15 let off a yellow flare about 20 yards from a police van and get nicked? Old enough by a couple of decades to know better.

Watford 😂, do me a favour. More like a underwhelming third round draw at best. Quick google search reveals they have won NOTHING of note. They are actually a small town near Luton, with half the population. Even Luton have won more than them!

Don't think Watford as a town is grim, always had a soft spot for it and still meet a couple of mates there for a drink every few weeks or so, just think the football team is a bit meh. I do like their ground these days, they have made it into a very good modern football ground within the existing footprint. It was an awful ground in the late 70s/early 80s.

Some nice areas around it but it’s always been a bit of a dump IMO. A more expensive dump than when I grew up there.

I remember the corrugated iron tunnel from the railway halt through the allotments to the away end in the 80s, like we were going to a Stalag!
There was a frustrating period in the early 80s when both clubs were on the up but we just couldn’t beat them. Their football was pretty grim under Taylor, but Venables couldn’t find the antidote and they did have John Barnes. They were press darlings as the “family club” helped by Taylor and Elton’s profile, which grated on me as a punky herbert but which I have a lot of appreciation for now when the alternatives were singing about the Munich air disaster, unemployment or threatening to kill people.
Johnny Byrne broke the spell when he scored in the Milk Cup there after Paul Barron saved a penalty. They rolled over every time for a while after that.

And only really became successful in any way under Graham Taylor. Same delusions of grandeur as their former heavyweight striker Troy 'Yes, I did eat all the pies' Deeney.

Nothing club who other than more time in the prem than us in recent history have done what exactly? Certainly not bigger than us and have no right to try and act like they are.

Feels to me all this cup final malarkey only started once Troy Deeney said it and the fans just follow it like sheep. Not a single QPR fan i know has felt Watford were anything such like or remotely close.
