Anything above 30 would be miraculous, especially as newly promoted teams usually get more points in their opening 10 games than they do in the later ones. We've got 1 point from our opening 9 games; we'd need to get at least a point per game from the remaining 29 to achieve that. Can Russell, Captain Jack & co pull off a miracle? What do you think?
Keep Martin and we set a new record low points total. Get rid of him and who knows.
I think this squad are capable of hitting mid 20's, probably not enough to stay up but enough to be respectable and keep us in it till the end, but the only way they do that is by binning off the JFK football, getting nastier in defence and looking for quick breaks and direct counter attacks.

We're on track for 4 points at the current rate, yes?
Absolutely. The mongs can quote whatever xG’s or other inane stats they like, but after 9 games and 1 point, we should be on target for 5 points give or take. Goal difference (not that it makes a jot of difference) should be circa -52 if lucky

Premier League Lowest Points Totals of All-Time:
Derby County 2007-08: 11 points.
Sunderland 2005-06: 15 points.
For comparison, after their first 9 games, Derby in 2007/08 and Sunderland in 2005/06 both had 5 points. We've got 1.

I think you will get three points on Saturday. Everton’s away record is pretty poor, only beat Burnley and Ipswich in almost a full year. Also Evertons record at SMS isn’t great.

"Also, Everton's record at SMS isn’t great"
To be fair, neither is Southampton's.
I have had my eye on that Derby record since about the 3rd/4th game.
Don't think Everton's record at St Mary's is that bad is it? It feels to me like we mostly draw those games, and it could just be my memory but it feels like there's been a lot of 0-0 draws

Only remember one nil nil and that was a freezing Monday night when Pochetino had just been appointed. There’s been a 4-1 drubbing just before Everton sounded the Big Sam Klaxon, an awful 3-0 with Eto playing centre mid and a Josh Simms inspired one nil in recent years that had this board comparing him to Ronaldo. I think when Everton are bad down here, they are really bad.

‘I think when Everton are bad down here, they are really bad’…….
We’re in for a corker then.
Dunno why, but I am actually thinking Saints might get something this weekend.

I think the worst game i've ever seen at St Mary's was against Everton, pretty sure it was a 0-0 draw not long after we'd moved there, we turned up late from being in the pub and then half my mates just stayed in the concourse after half time to carry on drinking as they couldn't be bothered to go back up.
Was like watching paint dry, but worse.

I’ve been to most of the Everton games at SMS and only remember one nil nil, that was the one on a cold January Monday night. Nothing happened at all.
There were two other games early doors at SMS that finished one nil. The first was a Saturday 5.30pm kick off that was a rarity at the time. The entire ground seemed to midjudge the kick off time and everyone was hammered. It was great. Everton won one nil. The following season was a game early in the season, it was awful and Saints won due to a late dodgy penalty.

Given the fact i was cold and very bored I'm guessing the january 0-0 is the one i'm thinking of.
I do also remember the 1-0 5:30 game too, mainly because we missed kick off by almost 30mins as we'd completely misjudged kick off time and got caught in a session in the bedfords

That late Saturday 1-0 defeat was good for Strachan's reaction. The team was so poor that he apparently got them in for training at 10am the next day. He turned up at 12 and said "You wasted two hours of everyone's time yesterday, I have wasted two hours of yours today". I hope that is true.

PL games to come Everton H Wolves A Liverpool H Brighton A Chelsea H Villa A Spurs H
Anything more than 2 points in the next 7 games and we'll have done better than expected. It's the little things in life that one has to look forward to and appreciate, that matter. To be honest, I'm beginning to get the perverse wish that we don't get any more points and end up with an almost unbeatable record. Beating 11 points will be seen as a victory for me (and doubt a few others). So, again perversely, there is stuff to look forward to. And so hopefully Russ will see us through to the end of the season. Start seeing it perversely as fking hilarious. Beyond that I'll be booking a place in the insane asylum.

Haha, he was always good for a quote wasn’t he?
My lasting memory from that game was the amount of Everton fans in the home end, myself include, and the rage when they scored. Saints fans going absolutely nuts screaming for the stewards to throw them out.
We lasted until almost the final whistle because we kept our heads down and the Saints fans around us were dead sound. Leaving literally as the ref was about to blow up, exchanged good wishes with the Saints lads, only to be overheard by some loon who started foaming at the mouth ordering us to be thrown out. Cue us getting abuse from an angry mob!
