Of course. And only one so far who played for Saints after a WC semi-final.

Maarten Stekelenburg also played in that semi-final so that's two semi-final teams who've had 2 players who've played for Saints in them.

Jordy Clasie came on as a sub in 2014. Lionel Messi didn't stand a chance against him.

Its interesting to note that of the players from more recent times, how many didn't really make an impact in the Premier League

It's surprising how many lowly ranked teams and unknown players have reached World Cup semi-finals. Morocco continue that trend.

Some of the third place play-off lineups are anything but a who's who of world football, like Sweden v Bulgaria in 1994 and Turkey v South Korea in 2002. The Netherlands are usually in the semi-finals though and being a small country, usually have a few lesser known players like Clasie to make up the numbers.
