FIFA World Cup thread. 12:02 - Nov 15 with 135284 viewsSnipper

I’m trying to get excited about this World Cup, but to no avail :-((.

I’ve just watched Sky Sports World Cup preview with Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher & Karen Carney. Utterly depressing viewing. Same old, same old. Picking players for the starting XI not playing for their clubs, or totally off form.

I’m hoping this thread can get the juices flowing.

Do any of you think England have a chance?

Ecuador v Seny's Senegal decent game, but the Senegal fans absolutely fantastic - if you watch the highlights, hopefully they'll show them dancing - brilliant!

Anyway, Senegal through, so we could be meeting them in the next round... Imagine if Seny's in goal and they win!

Poll: Who is your player of the season?

Was hoping they'd go out today, a tricky opponant if England win the group.

Foden starting tonight in for Saka
Rashford, Walker and Henderson also in for Mount, Sterling and Tripper

Well seems Gareth as picked a team not to lose.... not sure apart from experience why Henderson is starting.
Glad to see that Foden is in.

Think that’s a very decent England team he has picked tonight

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Do Wales know they have to win? Playing like a side wanting a 0-0.

Rashford! The northern Mason Mount. Absolutely pony.

Do Wales actually want to qualify, it's like a training game. Just really flat.

He's concussed their RB with a shot to be fair to him!

I thought they had to win 4-0 if USA win. Never going to happen even if Wales throw everything at it.

He has the SWP about him that his second touch is a tackle

Too pedestrian from England. I would like to see Grealish come on to run at them and take some defenders on. Is Bale on the pitch?

A very disappointing 1st half especially from Wales. Expected them to be full of passion and at it.... but its been very much a bit of a damp squib
This playing into our hands somewhat I think. Foden looks like he just shaded Bellingham as the best player for England that half
Worrying is apart from the Rashford effort have we had a shot on goal since......
Hopefully get through this tonight and move on

Similar to how we played at the euros- looking to control the game, wear out the opposition and capitalise in the second half.

Bellingham and Foden first names on the team sheet for me.

Side bar: Ian Rush's piercing blue eyes.

That's what happens when you have Tony Roberts as your goalkeeping coach

Foden and Rashford playing themselves into starting the Senegal game. Hope we put this lot to the sword here and don’t let them off the hook with only 2 goals.
