I note that RS commented postmatch that perhaps some of the young players have been told in the past that performance is more important than results. I wonder who's culture he was obliquely referring to there....?

We certainly are not getting any rub of the green at the moment. In fitness terms we still seem to be the month behind everyone else that we were at the start of the season. Our very young and inexperienced side is getting no help from senior players, linesmen not giving offside decisions, incorrectly taken corners, and a ball that ricochets off the Captains backside into the unobstructed path of an onrushing forward. We are 5 more games before the window opens and to be honest I am more concerned about exits than entrances. I think the recruitment work is clearly ongoing with the Odoh deal this week, so I imagine there will be some shapeshifting in January. We need 30+ points now from 26 games , basically continuing recent form. Like it or not, we always seem to have a run of poor form at this time of year , 2 games a week combined with injuries, heavy pitches and miserable training conditions take their toll now. Probably more so for players who can hardly be described as battle hardened and that is why the older players are such a huge disappointment, White, Done, Doolan, have added nothing and Keohane is likely out for several weeks exactly when you need him. We need leaders. Unfortunately you have to question the premise on which this side was assembled , is it really possible to sign 8 or 9 youngsters and expect decent results from a wafer- thin squad? I am starting to think not. We need 2 or 3 more players capable of driving the rest of the team and that has to be the January focus.

Doolan hasn't added anything for 13 years, tbf.
I don't agree that we "always seem to have a poor run at this time of year".
Around this time in 2016/17, we won something like six consecutive games, two of which got us to round four of the FA Cup.
I bet for every poor run at this time of year, there is another good one to be found.
You are of course right about Plymouth's illegal corners, but let's be realistic, if they had pulled the ball back a few inches, chances are we would have still conceded that late goal.
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

One thing is very clear after tonight - we're missing Newby... for his finishing, his link up play with O'Keeffe & him hoovering up the second balls; Cashman also looks like half the player he was when he doesn't have Newby around. For all my criticism of him not getting stuck in, we don't look like scoring half as much as when he is on the pitch.
For what its worth on tonight:
- Lynch... I thought he was poor tonight. Hesitant, seemed nervous, not communicating well with EOC. Very subdued performance, and something didn't feel quite right.
- Taylor... not great at all - after consistent signs of improvement recently, tonight he had a shocker.
- EOC.. not sure what all this passing from Lynch to him is about, when he only makes passes that Lynch could've made himself... having him back in the 6 yard box invites their players further forward and loses us some positive space. Looked composed most of the time (as expected), but a couple of big errors.
- Dorsett... like a new signing. Still prone to the odd gaff, or pass over the stand, but in general an absolute colossus.
- Morley... I'm beginning to wonder if Lg2 is too physical for him - not winning headers and not wanting to stick his foot in.
- Kelly... IMO his worst appearance for us since he just joined and was gaining fitness. Lots of time being frustrated with other players and not much of the magic we know he is capable of.
- White... invisible tonight. Forgettable performance, but his pace could do damage if utilised correctly.
- Odoh... strange one bringing him off... he had a couple more shots than normal and if he'd stayed on I would've bet money on their RB being sent off. we lost a lot of momentum with that change.
- O'Keeffe... missing Newby, and struggling with end product. Took their men on a few times but ended with poor / average crosses.
- Beesley... looks knackered. Won the ball back a few times but really needs help with the end product. For 2 big men up top, we didn't win many aerial duels.
- Andrews... well taken finish, but easily frustrated when play / decisions not going his way. Newby playing off him (a la Notts Away) will help a lot I think.
- Done... didn't do much at all when he came on. Similar performance to White.
- Cashman... played a similar role to what we have seen Kelly doing, slipped a lot and lost possession in the middle too easily.
Overall, it was lost in midfield tonight in my opinion... they wanted it more, we weren't ratting it down enough and gave them too much time / space to do what they wanted. Its also noticeable that, when other teams win it off us in midfield, their front few split and clearly know who to pass it to and where the others are running to - quick, slick and decisive. We are missing that.
Felt like a really long journey back tonight, not helped by the roadworks and accident on the 62. Feeling pretty deflated, and just hoping we start to show some fight on Saturday.

Surely the A19 would have been a better route when going back to Hull. The M62 is nowhere near that route.

All true, but it always seems to be the case that these things run against us. If the lino had flagged the ball was out of the quadrant , it might have made the player who took it do something slightly different, if he had flagged the offside before their first the game would maybe turn out differently, the margins are so fine. You imagine that these thing even out over a season but I'm never convinced they do. The midwinter slump really does feel like a "thing" I guess if you are winning its easier to negotiate it , the crowds are more enthusiastic, the team is more convinced they are invincible. Not so much if confidence is low, it's pissing down every day and you are on a bus to places you have only heard of every other Tuesday night and Saturday and when it seems like every training session is in the wet and cold. I bet all the players would welcome a 2 wèek break right about now as would the manager. Having said all that when you are only winning 5 home league games per season, everything does seem to go against you, late goals, penalties not given, petty bookings, offsides not given, injuries. Still, it could be worse, but not much.

Saying "but it always seems to be the case that these things run against us" is just the myopia and paranoia of a football fan.
I'm surprised someone of your Dale longevity still thinks that way.

Conclusions.: Myopic participants had significantly lower 25(OH)D3 concentrations. The prevalence of myopia was significantly higher in individuals with vitamin D deficiency compared to the individuals with sufficient levels. Longitudinal studies are warranted to investigate whether higher serum 25(OH)D3 concentration is protective against myopia or whether it is acting as a proxy for some other biologically effective consequence of sun exposure.
! Hope you took my advice and are still taking it... Had the Covids yet?

Funnily enough I take Vitamin D every day and I’ve never had Covid. This despite working in a high risk area throughout the pandemic, every one of my colleagues catching it, and the vast majority of my family having it too (thankfully all recovered).
Am I taking anything from that? No. The two may be connected, but when we’re talking about COVID there are a lot of things I’d recommend people to do before taking vitamin supplements.

Booster jab or Vitamin D? Which is better?
Please advise.
Speak to your GP and get a blood test for Vit D levels . I am at best an interested amateur but increasing your Vit D levels will do no harm particularly at this time of year, I reserve judgement on current vaccines I think people have to make their own decisions according to their health, age etc..If I had young kids, I would prefer to give them Vit D supplements Ideally we need a vax that attacks the nucleocapsid (at the centre of the virus) rather or perhaps as well as the spike proteins, thus having a sterilising effect of actually killing the virus and not just stopping its connection to other cells via the spike protein. Unless we can kill the virus it will keep mutating and we will have to keep having new boosters every 6 months or so.

No we won't, because the natural process that mutating viruses undergo is to weaken so as not to keep killing their hosts, which also spells the end for them. That's the science
It may even be that the Omicron variant is a weaker mutation (in terms of causing severity of disease) - we don't know yet but the early indications point in that direction
You're an "interested amateur" but didn't you tell us you have shares in a company that manufactures Vit D?
