Deadline Bard — Open All R’s Podcast
Wednesday, 4th Sep 2013 22:27 by LFW

Former QPR players Kevin Gallen and David Bardsley are the guests on this week’s Open All R’s Podcast, recorded on deadline day night.

Bardsley, now a coach at a football academy in Orlando named after QPR, reminisces with Kev about the great team of the 1990s that they both played in and their antics on and off the pitch.

David said: “In those days it was the players and the fans together. We were all together, we’d travel away and hang out with the QPR fans, you had a drink with them. That’s part of why we were successful in those days. WE had youth coming through like Kevin and Danny Dichio. We had an unbelievable laugh, but we could beat anybody. It was disappointing if we didn’t.

“I just really wanted to play for QPR. I didn’t look at anything outside of that. I remember on occasions I was called into the England squad and I didn’t want to go incase I got injured and couldn’t play for my club. That was just my personality.

"With Clive Wilson, you're talking about a player who should have played for his country. If Kevin had played for Man Utd he'd have played for England many times. That's the way the game is. I don't disrespect Graham Taylor for that, but you never got a good run in the team. Your face has to fit at the right club."

Host David Fraser, panel regular Paul Finney and Kevin are joined in the studio by QPR fan and @TalkingQPR editor Harry Soning.

You've just got to love David Bardsley haven't you. My favourite payer with Les at a time I don't think I will ever match watching Rangers. We beat everyone, including both the champions 4 - 1! It was an absolute joy. He had a hard beginning at rangers and the football genius song was very very ironic for a while. Great to see he had so much pride in playing for us. Not bad for a manc!

Have I got this right? The presenter whose cat was ill was the one wearing a Dangermouse T-shirt?
