Well I for one am not going to weep any tears for either party.If you can't come to terms with ideas that shake your PC beliefs and the beatification of a drug dealing scrote that's entirely up to you.Maybe the whole Kidbrooke to Footscray area can breathe a collective sigh of reliedf now that some of the scum responsible for foul murder can be put away.The aura of bullying and intimidation was so thick there you could cut it with a knife.

also i said i was sick of all the coverage one single murder got when hundreds if not thousands of murders have been commited since and all fogotten theres people dying two a penny here these days how many are remembered

The Police have been absolutely savaged for their investigation of the case and incurred a stigma that is still present today.
If there was even the tiniest shred of truth in him being a drug dealer they wouldve been only too keen to have it out in the open rather than the description theyve given him of an innocent hard-working student. |  | | |

Holloway, my apologies to you, i was very scathing regarding your post. This case is a hugely important story that should help break down the hidden and accepted structural racism that exists in British society.
I acknowledge the bitterness that you have regarding the loss of your friend.
This case now allows the process of cold case analysis and the possibility that criminals who committed crimes in the past will or could be arrested, charged and convicted.
Stephen Lawrence's death and the subsequent handling of it brings light and air into a dark and awful part of British life.

Holloway, the first trial was a 'private prosecution' , extremly rare and not brought by the police.
I sympathise with the loss of your friend, and it is very unjust that the killer has never been found and locked away.
There are many injustices in this country but for a few they do become 'cause celebre' , this may mean they get far more attention than others that are just as deserving, the publicity they recieve should never be regarded as tiresome, or even as less deserving because of it.
The difference in the SL case it has caused changes to be made, hopefully one day your friends killer will be caught, we have had a recent case in Suffolk where a man was charged many years after the actual killing.
It needs someone with tenacity and drive to keep the case opened and in the public eye, no matter how many dead ends you hit, Mrs Lawrence was one of these people, with a lot of help from others as well.
I felt your comments were unjustified and you should be pleased that there can be justice no matter how long or difficult the road to it may be.

cheersi know ,but sadly googled my late friends name and guess what nothing typed in where he was murdered nothing tried many ways but he's long gone and forgotten,
like you say someone has to fight for someone to be remembered the mother of my late friend wasnt the sort she moved away and is probalby dead as well there was nothing of her,

Fact of the matter is that if Saint Nelson Mandela hadn't got on board then the Lawerences wouldn't have got anywhere.
Fair play to them for having the courage, strength and commitment to enable that.
As for the right wing press - that's a laugh. If you think that the majority of the written press, BBC etc are right wing then you are deluded!
There are urban rumours which have consistently been around which surfaced very quickly for those who were living or working in the area at that time.
I feel those are the reasons the Met didn't take things as far as they could've and one of the rumours alledges trade offs done due to high level gangsters being involved.
Maybe the fact that it became so high profile is the reason these rumours have been kept as whispers in the corridor?
I don't buy papers anymore kind of due to the feelings Holloway gives in his post - they are very selective and decide what's hot and what's not.
I just hate the gushyness and cause célèbre attitude of them and I'm sure I went almost 2 years where a certain story was in the papers every single day.
Finally, having experienced knife crime and death personally my thoughts go out to all victims

Really sorry to hear about your friend, but I would have thought that having been through that experience yourself you'd be able to elicit some sort of empathy for what the Lawrence family have been through over the past 18 years. If they hadn't constantly pushed and pressed for justice and made it into such a public story nothing would have changed and they would never have got the justice they deserved.
