Barbet's hat 22:40 - Jan 25 with 7829 viewsStreathamRanger

Thought it deserved its own thread. Seemed to have a life of its own tonight and contributed to a slightly below par performance from our favourite Frenchman.

I thought his hat was inconsistent and it's positioning was poor.

Thought he was wearing a fez at first.

Barbet about my favourite player - keeping it quiet last season he was playing on with a dislocated shoulder and then continuing to play with that head injury.

But even I agree he was a bit below par and underlines why Sanderson should get plenty of game time.

Just needs to score against Ch€l$€a and we have the makings of a new / recycled chant for him.

Reminded me of Basil Fawlty with the head bandage in The Germans episode of Fawlty Towers. To be honest his performance tonight was a bit bizarre, not one of his best.

By the end it looked like one of those paper hats that a cheap fast food chain make their employees wear.

If he doesn't wear that hat, the free kick goes in the top corner..............................

More of a bandage today sadly although he did look generally a bit less concussed than in his performance against Swansea. What a choice we have at the back!

I think we can forgive him that performance as it has been just the once in over one & a half seasons. Mind you, there will be trouble if he does it again!

How many league games in a row is it now that he has played every minute?

His hat has played more games than some of the players inducted so far.

Never knowingly right.

Don't mention 'the hat'. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.

They ought to make replica hats available in the Club Shop - Barbet's Blue/Black Beret?

...and why not a Barbet doll while we're at it?

I'd definitely buy a Barbet Beret. I can hear the song now to the tune of Rasberry Beret:
Barbet's beret
The kind you wear when you've been kicked in the stands

in an effort to persuade him to stay at the club how about a rendition of
"Ton chapeau, est magnifique. Ton chapeau, est magnifique.
C'est pleine de Coeur, courage et bravoure, ton chapeau est magnifique."
If that gets sung correctly by over half our fans he would feel obliged to stay.

The grass is always greener.

We have come into the possession of Yoann Barbet’s turban, which was thrown to us by Middlesborough’s Matt Crooks post-match, in an admirably sporting gesture. He could easily have taken it back to Teeside and displayed as a scalp in their club trophy cabinet.

Being close to this sacred relic is a special feeling. It is hard to describe, but a few initial observations:

* It is surprisingly tight. We can’t even fit in on a 8-year-old. The man (or woman, just possibly) in charge of fitting turbans at QPR must have exceptional strength. The recent accounts state an increase in QPR’s football staff. Is turban fitting is a specialist role or is it untaken by a locker room generalist?

* It is definitely French. It has the initial aroma of the Loire Valley followed by undernotes of the Paris subway.
* The grippiness is exceptional. It must provide a considerable advantage for directing headers in slippery conditions such as last night. Makes me wonder. Should all our players should be fitted with turbans?

If anyone has questions about the turban or would like to visit it in person, we would happy to oblige. Feel free to ask.

We are still deciding whether to start a museum dedicated to our illustrious master of the diagonal pass, or whether to sell it on eBay to one of his adoring fans, and use the proceeds to provide free university education for the children of Shepherd’s Bush. Perhaps we should even return it to the club?

Any guidance on this matter much appreciated.

Now we know that Barbet is off home perhaps his hat should be placed on a pole on top of the Stan Bowles stand as a warning to opposing strikers. I suggest the pole be angled diagonally.

Adieu Barbet et bonne chance à Bordeaux
