Christmas Carnage? 13:11 - Dec 18 with 34575 views | Sadoldgit | Infection rates are generally rising fast despite the tier systems so you can imagine the spike after the free for all Christmas period. Johnson obviously doesn’t want to be seen as a Grinch but by not closing down Christmas there will be a lot fewer people enjoying it with their loved ones next year. We are battening down the hatches this Christmas. I just hope that people are sensible and do the same. Sadly though I think people will just go for it and be damned.

Christmas Carnage? on 20:23 - Dec 22 by 1885_SFC | Ironically, it was de Gaulle who vetoed Britain’s application to join the EEC in the 1960's. He thought we were an insular, island race who were never 'true' Europeans. |
He had his faults. Lacking foresight not one of them.

Also fair enough, the French are not backward in their national pride either, but it was French foreign minister Robert Schuman who, five years after the war, knew that the way forward was to focus on France's common interests with other European countries, when he set the whole EU thing moving.

One incident, you sad racist. These people had their land ravaged in two world wars and many had to live under the jackboot of facist tyranny for a number of years. They deserve some respect. Do you honestly think we wouldn’t have ended up the same if it weren’t for the Channel? Why do you think that Churchill was so desperate to get the Americans involved? The bores are the people who believe that they are superior to others through accident of birth. You are no better than anyone else and no amount of flag waving will make that any different.

but the Channel was dug by EU contractors and a European glacier

Christmas Carnage? on 09:11 - Dec 29 with 1717 views | Sadoldgit | Not surprisingly, the infection rates are climbing massively. It seems like better treatments are meaning that more lives are being saved, but hospitals are being overrun. One of the few bright spots of the Government’s handling of the pandemic was the speed at which the Nightingale hospitals were brought on line. It appears now that, due to the lack of trained staff, a number of them are closing and are being dismantled. Surely one of the first considerations when planning something like this is looking at Human Resources? Fair play to the Telegraph for reporting this news on their front page today! After all of the triumphant trumpeting in the media when they opened, someone needs to be held accountable for building facilities that we didn’t have the staffing resources for. It’s not as if we didn’t know a second wave was coming this winter.

Do you ever engage your brain and post anything that adds to the discussion? Do you think that it is ok that someone signed off on this project without checking the staffing logistics? You probably think that wasting millions of pounds because you haven’t done the basics is fine because you voted for these clowns and you can’t bring yourself to admit that you are partly responsible. What have they got to do before you start to realise that perhaps they are not very good at what they are doing? You’d be quick enough to react if someone like Hancock was running our club. Seriously, if you find my posts so boring, why read them? Surely you have better things to do with your life? Perhaps you could go and help out in a Nightingale hospital?

Every year critically ill Covid patients are transferred to hospitals around the country? You seriously do not understand that this pandemic is more serious than the annual flu outbreak? You don’t believe hospital staff when they say they are being overrun? 😳
Christmas Carnage? on 14:00 - Jan 2 with 1228 views | Sadoldgit | Just catching up on the news and beginning to wish I hadn’t bothered. So much for following the science. Apparently there are worries now that by departing from the plan to give two shots 3 weeks apart, the vaccine may not be as effective. Worse than that, the UK has agreed to a mix and match approach which means that you could end up with two different vaccines. This has not been tested for safety or effectiveness, so why risk it? Another fu ck up in a very long list of fu ck ups?
