You could tell from where we were sat in ER Clinty was struggling to not cry, banging his chest with his fist too (top man).
He's been a wonderful player for QPR over the last 6 years, and a great servant, and has typified everything that you want to see in a player as a fan.
Looking at it practically from the club's perspective, you can understand why they would perhaps be letting him go. At 38 (nearly) you do want to focus your backline around younger players, one bad injury would potentially finish him off. If there was a plan to keep him on as a squad player, does his salary fit into the bracket the club has placed on players in that role? If not again I can understand the practicals...
As a fan, and sentimentalist, I'd love to see Clint stay behind the scenes as I think he has a lot to offer, but that depends on the player wanting to do that now, and positions being available. As great a person as he is, jobs can't just be created out of thin air if there is no real role available.
Personally I'd want him to stay, but if he is off then I can understand. But regardless he has been a wonderful servant for QPR and we shall certainly miss his presence, and it was lovely to see his contribution recognised yesterday.
One of the main reasons I still have an interest in our club after all TFs shenanigans. Great player, even greater man, please sign him up in some capacity Rangers. Mrs Warnock had it right saying she hopes their son grows up to be just like Clint.
Agreed. Personally I would make him and Ale coaches and directors of the academy and give Clint another year as a player and keep Ale on a rolling year to year playing contract. Both I think are vital for the future health of the club.
I imagine both want to keep playing though and as good as they have been as players are either of them qualified to be running the academy yet? I hope they both stay as players next year and then see what they want to do.
That photo sums it all up for me... Thanks Clint , every time you played for the R's, you gave it your best...look forward to seeing back at W.12 soon.
A genuine and bonafide modern QPR legend. The one consistently excellent example of a player and a man, on and off the pitch, ever since he walked through the door. When mercenaries came and went, when relegations and promotions happened, when money was plentiful and then limited, Clint Hill was heading balls away, putting a foot in and giving everything he had, without exception. He was always to be relied on and made everyone around him better. A truly brilliant signing made all the more impressive considering he was initially just a short term stop gap.
At the end today when the players did a lap of honour I thought Clint looked tearful like he was saying goodbye....hope not ....nice touch club giving outstanding contribution award before the kick off....I just like watching Clint Hill
Would have been nice to stay and clap the players for their lap of honour, which I'm sure more people would have done if the pitch wasn't invaded by morons.
can see Warnock taking him to Rotherham and making him his heir apparent there
By no means certain that NW will stay at Rotherham.
Will largely depend on his wife's health - Rotherham is a long way from Cornwall & also from Berkshire btw where Clint and his children are settled (They go to same school as my niece's children)

I can see NW at Cardiff with clint as his assistant and Ale in midfield
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles
Brian Moore

Saw mentioned a while ago that Clint was doing/starting? his badges, but not sure if he is "qualified" enough to be an assistant at Championship level yet.
Absolute nonsense of course because in reality of course he IS qualified given his vast playing experience but its all about the" official" qualification levels these days!

Same here.
Told my sister yesterday, and my niece knew already! Proper little ITK.

Interestingly I DID stay and still got home 10 minutes earlier than leaving when F/T whaistle blows!

Clint has passed his UEFA A licence, that is sufficient to allow him to manage a Championship club.
