Until the FA introduce some form of bar to being able to register as a professional footballer if you have certain criminal convictions (like a lot of other professions do) then he should be able to continue to play.
As we saw with Lee Hughes who is every bit the scumbag that Ched Evans is, clubs will sign players who have done time for awful crimes, if they are good players.
Personally I think that victims (and their families) of certain crimes committed by professional footballers should be spared having to read/hear about them being idolised or taunted by opposition fans looking to score cheap points |
You, Dwight and others are right on this to be fair. Evans has the right to look to continue his football career, however distasteful this may be to most of us.
A football club also has the right to sign him, but equally we as fans have the right to let Evans and any club that signs him know how disgusted we are at them both. Even though that isn't a nice situation for the victim and their family.
What is distressing is the amount of misogyny apparently present within our support. For those defending him, how would you feel if you woke up in the situation this woman did? Would you blame yourself for getting in that state and chalk it up to experience or would you feel violated and look for justice? I think we all know the answer to that. |  |

Personally, I don't care whether he plays again or not, I would just hope that my club would not be morally bankrupt enough to take him on.
As far as this thread goes the odd thing to me is that we seem to have some people who still insinuate/imply that he is innocent and that she somehow deserved it. We covered this in length at the time - either you have faith in the justice system or you don't. Yes, there can be mistakes but in this case he has had opportunity to appeal an no verdict has been overturned to my knowledge. Until that unlikely event ever comes to pass, he is a rapist. 1 - If you did not commit an offence how can you have remorse?
2 - if you honestly believe being convicted means a person is guilty then you need to look at yourself. The police these days are corrupt from top to bottom (and I was a police officer - an honest one -for 30 years ).
