Wow... what am I reading here.
Some points for the numpties here to consider:-
1) The term "Have her" is pretty shocking. The woman in question is not a possession, nor a piece of meat.
2) If she was off her face or not, If Ched was sober enough to remember enough to argue his innocence, why did he then take advantage of a person who clearly was not in the position to give reasonable consent. It clearly is taking advantage of a person and cannot be considered consensual if the person is unconscious! It then becomes RAPE - NO IF'S OR BUTS.....
3) Why should he come back? Simple - it's not an office job or a position in a company where people will never know. A footballer is a public figure and one many will aspire to be. What kind of example will he be setting to the younger generation? It's okay to take advantage of unconscious women if they're drunk - afterall they're pieces of meat?

In my opinion he should be allowed to play again if a club wants to sign him. He has served his punishment for his crime. Nathan Dyer committed a crime, was punished and is allowed to continue his profession. I understand there is a difference in the severity of the crimes but the point still stands.
That being said, I would be furious if we even declared an interest in signing him, I do not want anybody with such a terrible criminal past near our club.
I expect he will receive huge amounts of abuse both on and off the field from both fans and other players / staff which he must accept if he wants to continue the very public profession that is a high level footballer. |  |

Spot on, Dwight. Allowing him to continue to make a living does not justify his actions. He is a criminal and will have to face the consequences of his actions long beyond his prison sentence. |  |

Both rapists and paedophiles are of course in this example, convicted sex offenders.

Until the FA introduce some form of bar to being able to register as a professional footballer if you have certain criminal convictions (like a lot of other professions do) then he should be able to continue to play.
As we saw with Lee Hughes who is every bit the scumbag that Ched Evans is, clubs will sign players who have done time for awful crimes, if they are good players.
Personally I think that victims (and their families) of certain crimes committed by professional footballers should be spared having to read/hear about them being idolised or taunted by opposition fans looking to score cheap points |  | | |
