Following on the current theme of reminiscing, players who did well/ok but for only the one year (or less).

Dave Lancaster.

The god that is Lyndon Simmonds was around for far too short a time, but what a great time it was.

One and a half seasons really. But he sneaks in.

Dave Frain. The guy did everything. He carried that team....and then buggered off to Stockport with the rest of them. Every season I wonder what he'd be like in that particular line-up.

Ben Muirhead. He was amazing for those few months, and then we signed him permanently...

A couple more whose careers were sadly cut short - Ian McMahon and Alan Johnson.

His second season was when we got to the playoffs.

Did ok that year when used centrally, but Parkin's insistence on playing him on the left the season before was one of the reasons we missed out on the playoffs.

What was he called? Little lad from Rochdale. Short but a busy little player. Scored a hatrick against Hartlepool - and his reward for that? Was never seen again.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

Jamie Taylor

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Wasn't that on his debut? He didn't do much after us due to his love of getting wasted! Shame, could've done well.

No, he made his debut two years earlier.

I think he scored something like 10 times from midfield that playoff season, I always thought that he was underrated while he was with us.

Paul Connor?

I know he was decent for us throughout his time at Dale, but he was outstanding in his first season.

He's lost a few years since he took up refereeing too.

I think Michael Oliver was my dads favourite player for a while.

Thought that might have been something to do with him randomly coming over and having a chat with him in the warm up at a friendly at Burscough.

Not technically fitting the criteria, but the difference between Will Atkinson in League 2 and Will Atkinson in League 1 was astonishing.

Also, I might get a bit of stick for this, but I thought Gareth Griffiths only had one good season with us.

Tangled up in blue.

Parkin was slated for sticking Russell out wide during his trial and preferring a central midfield partnership of Jones and Oliver. The Jones and Oliver combination took us top of the league.

Bertos absolutely destroyed us in the FA Cup once.

From a Bury perspective, John Paskin. Utter hero. Also, if you can do a calendar year rather than a season then that year is 1995 and that man is Sgt Phil Stant.
