How we get our games called off - see below email from Hornets:

The club can confirm that the upcoming 1895 Cup first preliminary round tie between Rochdale Hornets and Cornwall will be played at Rochdale Mayfield.
The fixture will take place on Saturday 1 February (3pm kick-off).

This decision has been made after consultation with Rochdale AFC, who welcome National League rivals Oldham to the Crown Oil Arena on the following Tuesday night.

To ensure the pitch can remain in the best possible condition for both that fixture and the upcoming Betfred League 1 campaign, the tie has been switched to Rochdale Mayfield.

Club officials from Rochdale Hornets and Rochdale Mayfield recently held positive talks concerning the future development of rugby league in the borough.

Discussions took place to help consolidate our improved relationship, and a commitment was made from both clubs to work collaboratively whenever possible - this venue change being a prime example of that.

We thank both Cornwall and Rochdale Mayfield for their cooperation.

The 1895 Cup fixture will form part of a wider day of events at Rochdale Mayfield, with further details to be announced in due course.

The winners of the game will go on to face Swinton Lions in the next round.

So, it's bound to be off if Mitchell isn't fit.

An interesting development, for lots of reasons

Doubt it would've happened last season

Hitnets GM - Matt Rigby - is a fan of both clubs and had done great things at Hornets. Andy Mazey described him as his best signing yet.

This continuing cooperation between both clubs is hugely encouraging.

It'll still be off though.

Intersting. Oldham fans will be happy with this reassurance given we couldn’t get the game on last time to a bit of drizzle

Meant to mark DOWN. RIDICULOUS to say that. It was absolutely pissing it down for ages in the hours leading up to the match due start, I bet Boundary Park would have struggled to get the game on as well as others . And no, I am not accusing you of being a BIFFO.

Further to add there's every chance we could have beaten the BIFFOS despite the fact that they might have been favourites to win.

One of our fans with common sense. Respect your opinion due to you not labelling me as an Oldham fan because I have differing opinions to you. Cannot complain with that. Do think Oldham would have got it on. They had big funding for their pitch through the council in summer

Yeah we definitely had a chance. We can punish any team on our day. They are also very good and prob will go on to be in the title race whether we like it or not. Just the truth

They took money off the council despite having a rich owner?

What a horrible club.

Didn’t a member of their council cry in the week about their huge debt and beg the government to go easy on them?

Common theme it appears. A bent council funding a bent club.

Bent council for sure.. ours isn’t all rosy… but bent club is harsh. They have gone through hard times like us with ownership same with bury. Don’t like them but ownership wise they look all fine now

Very entertaining at times though. Last month they were telling each other that Dele Alli was training with them ffs. Never thought I’d see another club overtake bury in the comedy stakes.

The speed at which their rich owner is spending his cash means he won't be rich for much longer. Thier council paid for the pitch to facilitate the rugby club going back to Boundary Park. What could possibly go wrong? Anyway, £7m of accumulated losses in just over 2 years isn't sustainable.

Oldham remind me of bury circa 2015. Both owned by egomaniacs who have to get their face on everything whenever the press visit their club. Both owners telling their fans they are bigger than they actually are to get them onside and they fall for it like the dimwits they are. Both owners chucking stupid money at mercenaries to achieve promotion (worked out great for bury didn’t it?).

In all my time of watching football, I’ve actually never seen anything as cringeworthy as their pied piper leading them on a march though. I’d be embarrassed to see our club do anything like this.

It’s not as bad given they shift , a lot of shirts and have decent numbers through the turnstiles. You could say that for a team like forest green with 1500 fans … maybe harsh to call our biffo friends
