Club announcement pending 20:58 - Jul 20 with 41352 views | KeithHaynes | Sorry we can’t bring any more than this at the moment, but it’s only fair we place on record we are told the club are about to make an announcement. It would be wrong to speculate any further at this time.

Club announcement pending on 06:51 - Jul 28 by Dr_Parnassus | Again, projecting opinion as fact is one thing, projecting an action as fact is something completely different. That is not something I’ve seen without accompanying some form of proof. It’s a lot different to the example you gave. The fact there is no evidence being put forward that he was “openly and generally making it known” something, means the burden of proof would be on someone accusing him of that, because you can’t provide proof something didn’t happen. If that was the standard then everyone would be guilty of everything. To be clear, mine isn’t an opinion. My stance is simple, there is absolutely nothing to suggest the above is the case and is no different to any of the other managers that have spoken to other clubs. So I was looking as to what was different in this case to see if there was any validation in the accusations, but not got anything of substance yet and it seems I am unlikely to at this stage. If we assume Cooper was touting himself out simply because he spoke to Palace then we have to accuse Potter of touting himself out too… except nobody seems to have. This is because there is a very notable insatiably hungry anti-Cooper narrative that needs to be fed constantly. If people just said they didn’t take to him and see things in a negative light when it comes to him then that’s just that and case closed. But when people are trying to claim impartiality while still maintaining what seems like such a lopsided accusation, I just can’t get my head around it. |
Just putting on record here then I didn’t/don’t dislike Steve Cooper. I didn’t enjoy the football we played, for me the results override that. I don’t care if he never manages again or goes on to win the champions league with Real Madrid. Much like Ayew and Grimes if he goes, once someone leaves SCFC, I invariably lose interest in them. You can believe that or not, if I disliked him, I wouldn’t badge it up as impartiality. There are players and managers I haven’t liked/rated and haven’t constantly highlighted any redeeming features for. In Coopers case, it’s disingenuous to even call consecutive playoff finishes a redeeming feature, it’s a massive achievement. I’m not arguing with you on this topic any more, I thought it had been put to bed yesterday to be honest.

That’s fair enough, but you did also say just two weeks ago that “I’m not as against Cooper as others are”. So when combined with something that seemed so strange so suggest someone was approaching clubs to become their new manager it seemed incredibly “off” shall we say. I’m sure you can see the reason it hasn’t sat well.

Yes. I can see why you have come to that conclusion, I’m just informing you it’s not the case. There will be some players/managers I genuinely don’t like/rate and can’t make a case for. Hourihane was one (after it became apparent he was coasting through games), Bradley was another just because he was so out of his depth. There aren’t that many and Cooper wasn’t one of them. There are some aspects of his management I liked, some I didn’t. Many people on here had a blanket dislike for him. I can’t remember the post and haven’t read it back for context, but for me to have said that, my guess would be I was responding to someone slagging him off and my next line would have been along the lines of ‘I can see where you’re coming from regarding the way we play, but it’s hard to argue with the results he gets’.
