Conor strikes again - but without a fairytale ending Tuesday, 13th Feb 2018 23:13 by pompey-fans.com staff Conor Chaplin earned Pompey a win on Saturday - here he was on target again but ended up on the losing side as Blackburn nicked a late Fratton Park winner. The forward stooped to head in the equaliser five minutes into the second half after Anton Walkes sent Dion Donohue's cross goalwards. That cancelled out the Adam Armstrong goal that had given Tony Mowbray's team the lead on 20 minutes, when he converted after a cross by Richie Smallwood was flicked on to him. Pompey responded well after the goal they let in, and deserved Chaplin's equaliser. After that they threatened a second with Jamal Lowe and Brett Pitman going close, but they were dealt a sucker punch when Armstrong pounced on a deflection off Matt Clarke to restore Rovers' lead in the 87th minute. Pompey could not find a second equaliser. Pompey: McGee; Walkes, Burgess, Clarke, Donohue; Evans, Thompson, Close, Lowe (Kennedy 90+2); Chaplin (Hawkins 85), Pitman. Subs not used: Bass, Deslandes, May, Ronan, Naismith Referee: Oliver Langford Attendance: 18,152 (884 away fans)
