Lang laps up four-goal Pompey plaudits: There’s no feeling like it

Callum Lang grabbed the headlines and lapped up the plaudits for scoring all four goals in Pompey's impressive 4-1 win over Coventry City at Fratton Park.

But he was quick to look forward and say the team had to make sure they kept doing the right things.

The victory took Pompey up to 20th in the table and made it ten points from 12 in their past four home games.

But after some poor showings on the road this season, they now need to back up this performances in trips to Watford on Boxing Day and Bristol City on December 29.

Lang scored two in each half - after Frank Lampard's Coventry had taken an early lead - and told the club media afterwards: 'It was perfect day for me – I’ve got the family down watching, we got all three points and I’ve scored four goals.

'There’s no feeling like it and so it’s probably the highlight of my career. I didn’t want to come off the pitch. Coventry had gone up the other end and scored after a foul on me and that obviously put us down, but we responded well.

'To get the equaliser as early as we did gave us a real chance and the second goal was probably my favourite out of the four. I seemed to be free to meet the corner for the third and I don’t score a lot of headers, so it was nice to complete my hat-trick that way. My dad will be buzzing with that one.

'Then there was an easy tap-in for the fourth and you’ll always take those ones when they come along. You feel quite emotional and it’s such a great feeling when things are coming off and it’s your day. They won’t all be like that, so you have to enjoy it.

'I don’t want to get carried away because it’s a long season and we all want to keep working hard to stay out of the bottom three. We had a little blip at Derby, but have looked like a completely different side in the past few weeks. Now we have to go to Watford and keep doing the right things.'
