Thread | Programme R's v Wolves season 82-83

I was looking through this programme and noticed that at the bottom of the front page, the date reads Saturday, 7th May 1982. A misprint, surely as it was 1983!!
Could this be a rarity, worth a fortune (cost 40p)-or did this mistake appear on every copy?

Sky will be relishing the prospect of a top v bottom clash on Friday. They'll be hyping up the match in their customary way, and will probably be revisiting matches of this type they have shown in the past. Strangely, a top v bottom clash is not as common as I thought-it's posssible, nay, probable that such a match does not happen in a complete season. Over the years I think I have only seen a couple-I recall us playing Leeds in the disastrous 68-69 season, where we dominated but lost 0-1. I remember we missed a pen in that match (Rodney I think). I fancy us to win, as long as we can score! |

Just seen the goals from this game, all three were superb, the Scots scored direct from the kick of after going behind. I've often wondered why a shot from the kick off isn't tried more often as the 'keeper is usually well out of his goalmouth. I remember Rodney Marsh trying it against Fulham in the cup, the ball just clipped the bar, and that was at the start of the game! Had it gone in it would have probably been the quickest goal on record.
Regarding Iceland, pro rata they must be one of the strongest footballing nations in Europe, with a population of just 300,000 they have produced several Prem quality players, and can give anyone a tough match nowdays in International matches. |

I understand there used to be a Northampton R's supporters club.

Thread | 1968 R's first win in 1st Division

Hi, I've been lurking for a while so it's time I registered.
My first game at LR was in Oct '68, having just moved to Paddington 2 days before! I must have brought the R's luck because (I think) Barry Bridges scored in the first minute and Rangers went on to beat Ipswich 2-1. I was hooked and went again on the Saturday, another win! Beat Sheff Wed 3-2. We all know what happened that season, but I've stayed a fan since then.
Soon be 60, can enjoy cheaper tickets next season! In the Prem....
