Canas was crap today but he is a better player then Britton. The entire team was crap against an very average Southampton team. We lost the midfield today.

In what way is he better than Leon? Physically maybe but not in terms of holding discipline as the holding midfielder

Canas is not, repeat NOT a better player than Britton. Not even close at the moment. Canas has nice hair and is Spanish.

A football match is 90 mins not 30 ok we lost today but I thought we played well, that's what it looked like from the away end imo.

Canas is more technically proficient that Leon and probably in terms of most attributes is a 'better' player. He doesn't suit the system as flawlessly as Britton, however, which is the key. I wouldn't expect him to be able to yet either, as Leon's had nigh on a decade to fine tune and make the position his own. Edit: Sorry, was meant to quote Jokeren and/or Max. FAO Mr Laudrup re: LEON BRITTON on 16:06 - Oct 6 with 4008 views | Zut_Alors | Britton is class, always has been. He has only 2-3 poor games a season and binds the team together better than anyone else. Canas shows a great intensity and adds a great physical presence, but against any team with half a mind for a possession based game, like Southampton, and Britton will outperform him any day. It's a fine line, though, because i do feel that Leon playing the Europa games is quite a good idea. It's likely that there will be quite a few changes for each European game, and he is the type of player whom everyone knows how to play with. There's going to be a lot of questions around how we prioritise European football this season. As long as we don't slip into a relegation battle, i'm all for putting out near first choice teams for Thursday nights, but it has its drawbacks. Michu looked a shadow of himself today, and i don't think Routledge can hack two games a week at the mo. Either that or he really needs competition for his place in order to do well. Laudrup got the best out of him last season by rotating him and Dyer based on their performances. Brendan never did give him the chance to hold down his role, even if he played a blinder he would be ditched for Scotty. He needs to be dropped for a game or two, imo. I think Amat looks like a tidy player, but as can be expected for a junior cb, he's very prone to errors. Chico needs to change his gung-ho style when playing with him and be the leader he definitely can be. Not a disaster by any means, but a lot to improve upon. [Post edited 6 Oct 2013 16:09]

Canas is not lose. The goals today happend because of serious mistakes first by Davies and then by Chico and Amat.

Canas runs around like a cocker spaniel chasing a bouncy ball. Britton is better than any player in our squad at holding his position. He's what makes our midfield tick, write him off at your peril.

So you agree Leon is the better player at the moment then? being technically better means nowt unless it does the buisness and at the moment its not, I like Canas, but he shouldn't be played ahead of Britton in the Premiership IMHO.
