US Election 09:58 - Nov 6 with 7588 views | derbyhoop | As a change from all the gloom and doom, the world's biggest economy goes to the polls today. Any interest? Any predictions? It's going to be close but I believe Obama will keep his job. Audacity of Hope seems to have dwindled considerably.

US Election on 06:39 - Nov 7 with 956 views | CanadaRanger | While polls suggested that 75% of Canadians preferred Obama, his re-election is going to be worse for jobs here than Romney would have been. Romney would have approved the pipeline from Canada to Texas. That would have meant mega petrodollars coming to Canada, rather than to our friends in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, etc.

You can't base your whole jobs profile on one pipeline. One of my best friends works for Enbridge and he doesn't even think that. Obama didn't veto that pipeline, he said he wasn't prepared to approve it in the time frame they were trying to force on him, which seemed reasonable to me.

True, re one pipeline. I have a good friend at TransCanada. The greenies up here are anti pipeline - any pipelines. The alternative is going to be 20,000 more railcars, more pollution from trains, and greater risk. The 20,000 figure is not rhetoric. It's a plan that the rail company made public. Obama was trying to keep both the blue collar vote and the enviro vote. One group will now be disappointed.

US Election on 10:55 - Nov 6 by Konk | Having done extensive polling of the Americans I know who are voting in this election, the results are as follows: Democrats have won votes in Wisconsin (3), Illinois (2), Michigan (1), NY (2), Massachusetts (1) Republicans have won Florida (1) Either my polling sample wasn't quite big enough or the other pollsters have fu cked this one up because I'm calling a landslide in Obama's favour. |
So, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and NY all went to the Democrats and Massachusetts has Obama in the lead by 700,000+ votes with counting not yet concluded. Tight in Florida with Obama in the lead by 40,000-ish will counting continuing. No-one/everyone could have predicted these outcomes. klr - never doubt the integrity of my polling again. I'm currently awaiting calls from CNN and the BBC asking me for my reaction to the election results. I am the Lord of Psephology.

US Election on 00:36 - Nov 7 by gueRRilla | Was literally just asking myself this. But figured I should cite if I was going to copy and paste. Martin Lewis â€@MartinSLewis Interesting that the BBC is doing a breakdown of US voting by race. Would the same in a UK election be deemed inappropriate? |
I'm sure I heard on BBC radio this morning that 98% of black Americans that voted, voted for Obama whereas the white vote was split 50/50. If true, that ain't politics that's pretty shocking. Very glad that Obama got the gig though.

If you look at class, I bet something like 90%+ of Black Americans are working class or 'underclass', and people from that background more often that not traditionally vote for the candidate/party seen as best representing 'the working majority'. The same people voted for Clinton.

What's that got to do with the price of cheese, Romney lost fair and square, even though Murdoch and Fox News tried their (lying) best to do otherwise !!

What a load of bigoted spin that link is. However, I have come to expect nothing less from Liberals the World over and this thread has been pretty good at proving it. Simply incapable of understanding a different view and thereby have to resort to mockery. Sorry BH but I get fed up with attitudes like that.

Yeah, Romney lost fair & square, even though more people voted for him. Oh, the old "Murdoch & Fox News" bol locks gets rolled out again by another "useful idiot" ! The real propaganda, the real Liberal bias in the media, the real slurs in these campaigns are the mark of the Left, not the right. Although its nowhere near as extreme as in this country where there is no counter opinion to The BBC, there is still an obvious & very clear Liberal bias that dominates the media in America. Listen, I've already admitted I dont know enough about either candidate or their policys, possibly because I dont have the right to vote in US elections, what worries me most is the Iran thing which is happening under Obama, people should realise in no uncertain terms how serious all this is, it is gravely serious, I dont want any part of it, Iranian people havent done anything to me & wish them no harm at all. The second thing if we even get that far, with this looming disaster, the economy, I'll make a prediction in four years time, American wont even be the second largest economy in the world anymore nevermind the first, that's how highly I rate your man when it comes to his Economic outlook. We are f~cked, go out enjoy yourselves, take your familys on holidays, who cares whether you can afford it, sooner rather than later things are going to get very very dark indeed for all of us, all because our politicians are too downright craven, cowardly & evil to speak out & say we are not having any part of this whatsoever, no chance we are getting involved in any of this, no chance on Earth.

Oh I dont know Alb, parody of such a disgusting policy that stated a feotus created as a result of rape was 'Gods will' was highly offensive and completely disregarded a crime involved. I think American women probably had a lucky escape last night and taking the pish out of such a policy is one, if not the only, way to comprehend a US Presidential Candidate proposing such. The Reagan inspired lunatic fringe of the Religious Rightwing in the US have been shown the door.

Craven politicians? So what else is new? The Amrican economy is on the upturn judging by real estate prices. Iran will get theirs, would ensure our leaders in Tel Aviv get their borders secure for a couple of decades. Time to stock up on the Prozac.
