With him not even on the bench this evening, have we seen the last of him? We can but hope. The 'marquee' summer signing turned out to be the terrible one. Ah well, live and learn (hopefully).

That's what I think too. Maybe he could go all summer with Kolli, gym buddies.

I hate giving up on players as I really want them to succeed at QPR. Maybe I just love the underdog.

Dean Coney, Lyndon Dykes, Colin Clarke ♥️

Kolli is already a unit and I think holds off players quite well.

I think a loan in L1 or even L2 for the rest of this season would do him some good.

But what club would take him though?

I think Madsen did better in his first games for us, when he passed the ball forward quick and accurately. Then he got a lot of flack for not tackling or running enough. Since then he looked like he had been told to do the defensive work but that came with what he was good at the quick passing, disappearing from his game. I hope he can get that back but more likely I think he'll move onto another League where football is played at a slower pace.

I thought Madsen was good (quick and brave, allied to his obvious technical ability) when he went out on the left wing away to Luton, and after his goal, I really thought he would kick on. Sadly, we never saw anything close to that level of commitment again. I don't like giving up on player's but it seems a summer transfer with hopefully our money re-couped, might be the best scenario for all involved.
Celar is a different situation; he was playing at a time when we were absolute shite and he was only one of many contributing to that. Playing as a striker in a team not creating chances is really difficult. He was definitely showing signs of improvement and maybe when he gets back to full fitness and can train away without the glare of publicity and with the general mood around the club much more positive, hopefully he can kick on. His goals against Cardiff, were both great striker goals (albeit completely different) so he could become a valuable asset.
Dembele I am not sure about. He had regressed significantly before his injury from his flying start. Again though, there is the caveat that he was playing in a team bereft of confidence and any kind of form. I am not too concerned about him. Hopefully he comes good and adds another layer of dynamism and unpredictability in the final third. But if not, we are well equipped in this department already and would surely get our money back form a lower (not us, yaay) Championship club or upper League One outfit.

What we really need next summer is two full-backs.

Still reckon he will be striking the winning penalty at Wembley in May...

Well it won't be Celar, that's for sure!

Shit but local

It's not just a build / physical thing with Madsen though is it? Even if he were built like Bob Hazell he'd still skirt, dance around and avoid challenges. His mentality is to stay upright and clean and do technical things. Even if he looked like Tarzan, he'd still play like Jane. I'm not sure if they'll be able to change that and I don't think any team in the Championship can afford to carry a player like that in the XI.

"Even if he looked like Tarzan, he'd still play like Jane." Love that.

Whether the issue is physical or mental, you have to earn the right to play in the Championship. Simply having a good eye for a pass isn't enough. Never was this more apparent than in the Blackburn game.

He's playing more like Sandi Toksvig at the moment.

And as we near the midpoint of the 10 page Nicolas Madsen thread - time for an interlude …

All.
I am usually brief, so apologies if I don't elaborate.

1. Kolli. Out of nowhere I saw him starting vs Norwich in a game I was expecting us to get rolled. instead he scores 2. BUT (and not the only time either) he impressed me in his pressing CBs and GETTING the ball. Plus his teamwork with Chair was revelatory. In my mind he is faster, a better carrier of the ball and has better feet than Frey. To me I see him as the better starter with Frey coming later to finish off the frustrated opposing CBs.

2. Madsen. My observation is that his defensive game is just not up to speed. He has been culpable for not closing down opposing Midfielders or not anticipating passes. Currently, Varane, Field, Morgan, Colback are ahead of him.

3. Celar. MY observation is he was continually offside or slow to anticipate passes in to him. He was not decisive in his opportunities and got more frustrated as time went on. He missed that penalty and when he did finally put a patch together he was injured. I would be easily persuaded into a thinking he might feel best pressing restart.
